The Returning EX (John and Sophia) novel Chapter 1707

Chapter 1707 Ian’s Strange Behavior

Ian stood in the kitchen for quite some time before turning his head.

He couldn’t quite contain his guffaws upon seeing her retreating back as she hastily fled the scene. I never realized that she’s actually quite an interesting character and it’s quite fun to tease her.

On the other hand, Cindy went back into her room and shut the door behind her. Then, she leaned against the door as she tried to catch her breath.

Ian’s quite strange! He’s behaving very strangely indeed. She wasn’t sure what had happened to him and she seemed to get the feeling that he was trying to flirt with her from his current actions and the way he interacted with her.

However, this didn’t make sense to her, so his actions seemed stranger than ever.

She waited for a short while before walking toward the windowsill and standing in front of it. She then opened the window to allow some breeze into the room.

Her face remained flushed red as her heart continued to gallop.

Initially, she was quite upset by the fact that Leah had called to yell at Ian but now, she didn’t even care about that.

All that was on Cindy’s mind was the way that Ian had stood in front of her with an expression that was quite solemn yet with a hint of a smile as he spoke in a soft voice to her.

Truth be told, Cindy was quite perplexed by his attitude toward her recently. Is it because there are not that many women around him, so he thinks that I’m a good catch? But then that can’t be right! He was busy with quite a few films previously and it’s only recently that he’s been staying at home more often. He didn’t spend that much time at home either, so it doesn’t make sense for him to feel attracted and set his sights on me because of the lack of attention from the opposite sex! She scratched her head but in the end, she couldn’t quite come up with a conclusion.

Meanwhile, Ian was quite restless and he took a seat on the couch to watch some TV. However, he was very tempted to eavesdrop against the door to find out what Cindy was doing inside the room.

He was quite aware that she would definitely not make the first move to come out of the room so in the end, he got up and switched off the television. Thereafter, he walked toward the bedroom after some slight hesitation.

Cindy hadn't locked the door from the inside so he easily opened the door after twisting the doorknob.

Meanwhile, she did expect him to come in as well. As soon as he opened the door, though she got a fright, she didn’t make any further moves.

She stood still at her original spot in front of the windowsill and looked out of the window.

In fact, there wasn’t anything interesting outside. After all, the sky had darkened and there was no scenery other than some street lights.

Ian went ahead and took his clothes before turning around to leave. Indeed, Cindy had anticipated that he was going to freshen up.

Both of them didn’t say a word to each other, but the awkward atmosphere from before didn’t seem to diminish at all.

Ian took a quick shower and went back into the room. Then, he sat down on the bed to play some games on his phone.

Meanwhile, Cindy considered it for a moment before grabbing her clothes to go and take a shower.

When she came back into the room, Ian continued to lean against the headboard and he was busy with his game. She glanced at him from the corner of her eye and silently moved to the other side of the bed.

Subsequently, she lay down in bed stealthily and covered herself with the comforter.

The current time was much earlier than their usual bedtime, but Cindy and Ian had nothing to say to each other nor did they have anything else to do, although they were stuck in the same space. And so, all they could think of was to go to bed earlier.

Just then, she had just lay down in bed and he coincidentally ended one round of his game. Ian, too, didn’t continue the next round but chose to turn off his cell phone. Then, he lay down next to her and flicked off the lights.

Both of them were aware that each other were still awake but none of them said a word. This persisted for a few minutes before Ian turned to the other side to face her.

Cindy could sense him inching closer and closer toward her but she couldn’t find the words to stop him, so she pretended to be unaware of his movement.

He remained in his position for quite some time before inching closer to her again.

Cindy was significantly annoyed because there was no way she could sleep soundly with him behaving in such a manner. Her whole body tensed up and her senses were heightened and focused on her right side. Although she couldn’t see Ian, she knew that he was still wide awake and he was fully conscious during the last two times that he had shifted closer to her.

She shut her eyes and relaxed as her breathing turned shallower. On the contrary, Ian was not only awake, but he also had his eyes wide open too and he kept his eyes on Cindy quite firmly. There was not even a glimmer of light in the room, but the room wasn’t completely enveloped in darkness either.
