The Returning EX (John and Sophia) novel Chapter 1952

Chapter 1952 Honesty

Cindy nodded. “Yes.”

Serena handed the draft back to her. “Good. From tomorrow onward, I want you to come up with a design according to the themes in the file I gave you. Put it on my desk once you’re done.”

“Yes, madam.” She was happy about it. Even though Serena wasn’t giving her any regular tasks, she still felt glad that Serena finally noticed her.

After they were done talking, Cindy put the draft back and left with Serena. It was past work hours, but some people were still working. When they came out of the elevator, they saw some employees in the lobby. Since Cindy didn’t know them, she didn’t greet them. Then, she left with Serena.

It was already dark outside. Cindy hailed a ride and told the driver her address. When she was on her way back, Ian called her to say he was still working, so she didn’t need to wait for him. “I need to talk to the producers about something. It might take a long time.”

Cindy sighed. She knew there would come a day where she couldn’t meet Ian after they worked in different fields, but it still stung when the moment finally came. She also felt guilty when she thought about how she didn’t tell Ian that Gary helped her out. However, she couldn’t talk about that on the phone, so she told Ian to take care of himself. “Don’t worry about me.”

When she came back home, the lights weren’t turned on; the living room was dark. Sadness welled up within her, and she teared up. She knew she was just overreacting. Ian had been spoiling her too much lately.

When she started working, she had endured every kind of hardship, and she got through all of them fine. But now I’m crying just because I can’t see Ian for a day? Just because work isn’t going my way? I’m useless.

She took a deep breath and went into the living room. She was feeling hungry, as she didn’t have dinner yet, but she had no appetite. She put her handbag down and sat on the couch to catch a break. Since she was alone, she didn’t feel like doing anything.

A while later, she took her phone out and called Aurora. Ian wasn’t home, so she wanted to get someone to accompany her. Aurora did take her call, but she said she wasn’t home as well.

She was the singer for the OST in the drama Ian was starring in, so she had a lot of things to do as well. She was also combing out the details with the producers. Oh, well. Nothing I can do then. “Do your best, Aurora. I’m fine.” Then, she hung up.

She tossed her phone aside and smiled dryly. In the end, she took out a bag of frozen dumplings from the fridge and cooked them. Gotta eat no matter what.

After she was done making dinner, Ian called her again. He asked her if she was home already, and what she was doing. Cindy wasn’t feeling too happy, but she didn’t show it and put on a cheery tone. “I’m home already. I’m watching TV now.”

Ian sighed. “This might take a long time. I might only get home at midnight. You don’t have to wait for me. Go to sleep if you’re tired.”

“Sure.” A while of hesitation later, Cindy told him about work and how she landed the job through a connection. She said she only found out today that Gary helped her out.

And Ian was quiet after hearing that.
