The Returning EX (John and Sophia) novel Chapter 1953

Chapter 1953 Home

She couldn’t see his face, so she didn’t know what he was thinking. She continued, “I didn’t know he helped me until Serena told me about it. I was thinking we should treat him to a meal and thank him for his help. He gave me a leg up, so I think it’s just polite that we thank him ourselves.”

This time, Ian finally responded. “Sure. I have the same idea too.”

She wanted to explain that she didn’t know that Gary helped her, but she could hear that Ian had to go, since someone was calling him.

Ian replied to the guy, then he said, “I need to go. Talk to you later.”

“Okay. Do your best.”

They hung up, and she tossed the phone aside. When she looked at the dumplings again, she felt frustrated for some reason, so she didn’t eat them. She went to the room and took her pajamas, then went to take a shower. After that, she watched some TV again.

It wasn’t late, but in the end, Cindy turned the TV off and went to bed. As Ian still wasn’t back yet, she curled up under the blanket and drifted to sleep, but it was a shallow one. Ian came back at midnight, and she woke up immediately. Cindy sat up and listened to the sounds carefully, then she got out of bed and went out of the room.

Ian was standing before the fridge, drinking some water.

When he saw Cindy, he smiled. “Did I wake you up?”

Cindy heaved a long sigh. “No. You were quiet. I wasn’t sleeping too well.”

Ian put his bottle of water down and turned to her. It was obvious that he was tired, but he still caressed Cindy’s face and kissed her. “I have to leave early in the morning. I can’t sleep for too long.”

Cindy hugged him. “Do you have a lot of work to do? You need to take care of yourself too. If it’s really hard for you, I can quit my job and help you out.”

Ian laughed.

Cindy leaned against his chest, and she felt his chest vibrate as he laughed. She laughed as well. Well, that was childish of me. She wanted to make supper for him, but he was too tired to eat, so they went to bed.

Cindy wanted to know about Ian’s day at work. She wanted to know if he had met the female lead and supporting cast. She wanted to know if they were there on the set. She had a lot of questions, but before she could bring it up, Ian was already asleep.

She sighed and rolled over to hug him. She thought she was having it rough, but Ian wasn’t better off anyway. And I had the gall to complain. Wow, I am weak.

She found a comfortable position and drifted to sleep, but not long after that, Ian got out of bed.

Cindy woke up. “You’re leaving this early?”

Ian wore his clothes and went toward the bathroom. “Yeah. It’s an early day today. I can’t help it.”

She sat up and stared at the bathroom as its light lit up. Cindy pursed her lips, but she said nothing. When Ian came out, she said, “If it’s really hard on you, why don’t you stay at the hotel near the set? You don’t have to come home every night.”

Ian touched her cheeks. “We’ll see. I can’t sleep if I don’t see you.”
