The Returning EX (John and Sophia) novel Chapter 1975

Chapter 1975 Good Things May Come Later

Cindy waited for Aurora to walk to the kitchen door before breaking the silence. “Why didn’t you sleep more?”

Leaning on the door frame, Aurora crossed her arms. “I couldn't sleep after being woken up by a phone call.”

Cindy didn't ask what the phone call was about, but Aurora added, “The man you met before called me again.”

Then, a surprised Cindy turned her head to look at her. “What did he say?”

Aurora laughed. “He didn’t say anything much. He said that he’s now having a bad time with every day being a misery for him. I’m not sure why he told me that.”

“Is he trying to gain your sympathy?” Cindy withdrew her gaze.

There was somewhat a faint mocking tone in Aurora’s tone. “Not sure. He was the one who approached me, left me, and now, he’s the one who can’t move on.”

She then added, “When we were together, his daughter was pregnant at that time. I took care of her, after which I decided to return to the entertainment industry because I’m not willing to give that up. You know that, right? At that time, he did not agree and insulted me. Later, we gave each other the cold shoulder for a few days before he sent his daughter to his in-laws. Afterward, he also went over there to stay with them for a couple of days. The two of us did not have any contact whatsoever for that period of time. It was then when I knew that the relationship was a goner.”

Whenever the two of them had conflicts, he had a place to go at any time while she had to stay where she was. The man's daughter didn't feel much gratitude towards Aurora either, thinking that Aurora was supposed to take care of her because Aurora was with him.

Aurora did not think that the girl was ungrateful but lamented that blood ties were a really mysterious thing. If two people who were not biologically related, no matter how good Aurora was to the daughter, the other party still would not treat her like a mother. As such, she felt disappointed.

Initially, she wasn’t sure whether to return to the entertainment industry or not, but after this incident, she knew she couldn’t rely on that man; she had to find a way out for herself. It was him who caused her to make up her mind on reconciling with Ian.

Cindy sighed. “The good thing is that all that has passed. Now that we all have a new life, don't look back. To be honest, I shouldn’t be commenting on your love life, but I really think that man does not deserve you.”

Although Aurora was older, her temperament and looks were still superior to people of her age; after all, she was once a celebrity. Cindy had seen that man before and found him to be just average. Besides, he seemed to have a lot of misgivings about others and spoke in an insincere tone.

In any case, Cindy did not care for him and she thought that even though Aurora didn’t have a particularly good reputation over the years, the man was way below her. No matter what, she must look for someone honest and decent.

Aurora nodded and told Cindy, “Yeah, I wonder what I saw in him before. I was so stupid to be with him for so many years. He wasn’t nice to me and was stingy too. Most of the time, we would split the bill and he was an extremely calculative man who kept insisting that it was hard for him to earn a living. I didn’t want to make a fuss, so I held back. Now that I think about it, maybe he thought I was a pushover. So, he couldn’t find another woman like me.”

Cindy lamented, “In fact, with your kind of character, you’ll come across good men. Don’t rush as good things may come a little later.”

Soon, she went back to the kitchen and cooked the rest of the dishes. As they sat down to eat, she thought for a bit and took out her phone to take a picture to send to Ian. She did not say anything to him but only sent a photo to tell him that she and Aurora were now together. However, as Ian did not reply to her immediately, he was probably busy.
