Ollie finally saw his newly minted brother and couldn’t help but inspect him for all his limbs and appendages.
"Hey! Are you alright? I’ve been hearing so many conflicting stories that I had to see if you’re still whole by now!" Ollie whispered, lowering his voice in fear of attracting even more attention.
"?"
On the other hand, Luca, who wasn’t sure what Ollie was talking about, could only tilt his head in question.
"I’m fine. I think?" With the way he looked at him, even Luca doubted whether he was supposed to be okay.
"I heard you defeated that arrogant guy who challenged you?"
"Not sure if you call that defeat, but I didn’t lose." Luca shrugged while mimicking Ollie’s sneaky way of speaking.
"But brother, what’s more important is what happened when you were sent to the infirmary! Are you in trouble? Do you need help?"
Ollie had been worried since he saw the photos and videos circulating in the school forum.
Because, unlike the others who had a skewed view of Luca, Ollie knew that this guy was more like a little puppy than a vicious hound.
Like, look at him?!
Even he, who was scrawny, looked like a lumbering macho (not) when compared to this guy!
Ollie had so many scenarios in his head and was wondering how he could help defeat the school’s real Top 1 when he couldn’t even get his shit together in the morning.
But who else would help Luca if not for him? They were sworn brothers, after all!
He waited with bated breath, his mind still remembering the scene captured from different angles. Until Luca asked, "Huh? Why would I be in trouble? Maybe I was too tired and fainted."
"What? Didn’t you fight it out with the school’s top student?!" Ollie’s voice raised an octave, and he had to stifle his own mouth.
But that didn’t really help when many have already tuned in on their conversation.
The people of their Academy weren’t even normal to begin with, so what did he expect about their hearing?
"No, we didn’t. I actually bumped into him because I was running to the cafeteria without looking! But then I kind of got dizzy when I realized what happened."
Luca lied through his mouth, but technically, that was just a partial lie. He bumped into a solid wall that was apparently Xavier’s chest.
If these people experienced the same thing, they’d understand why his head spun.
Meanwhile, the onlookers, especially the women who were just now pretending to eat, caught keywords, locking onto specific words that made them swoon.
So, Xavier’s chest was that solid? It must’ve been as chiseled as the rumors!
You heard him, right? It seems like he was held like that to keep him from falling.
Slowly but surely, several hands were skillfully and covertly sending out messages about the sweet encounter between a top student and a clumsy but cute classmate.
They clearly forgot how he was strewn over like a sack of potatoes as the top student ran with him in tow. But who would listen, right?
While everyone else was unaware of this very covert yet hot take on his trip to the infirmary, Luca was still confused about how some students were given the right to miss classes.
Ollie could only sigh before explaining, "They’re allowed to exchange mission hours and achievements for class hours." freeωebnovēl.c૦m
"You mean you encounter corrupted creatures in these missions?"
Luca thought these missions entailed space pirates or colonization of some kind. But to deal with corruption? And to keep the spoils?!
Sign him up!!!
He was so excited that he practically vibrated in his seat and almost stuttered when he asked how to take that exam.
Ollie was a bit confused but managed to say, "Well, there’s a monthly exam that happens toward the end of the month. The registration should start soon?"
He wasn’t sure why he felt weird, but Ollie seemed to be seeing and hearing things because the little one seemed interested in signing up.
The impromptu school manual, Ollie, wasn’t that certain about everything since he had never really thought of joining the guilds.
However, he tried his best to answer Luca’s questions about the time, place, and requirements. He even wondered why Luca asked if there was an entrance or examination fee.
Ollie had never heard of such a thing, but Luca seemed relieved that it was free, so he just let it be.
"?"
"Hey, are you, by any chance, thinking of signing up?" Ollie was a little pale because wasn’t that like asking for death? Of course, the big brothers who signed up and helped with the military’s efforts all looked cool.
But what about his little brother, who looked like the wind could lift him up anytime?
If the kid signed up and something happened to him because of his recommendation, then wouldn’t he be plagued with guilt?
While Ollie imagined the Duke’s people knocking on the door of his house, Luca was daydreaming about black oozing creatures that now smelled like ka-ching ka-ching! Never mind that they would usually reak of blood! To Luca, that was money, and money was love!
