Jordan was paying them any mind.

Quiana gave an old tricycle a kick and hollered, “Hugo, give up the pills and grab the cash.

Hugo pulled out a bottle from under the phone case shelf and passed it to Jordan. There are three pills in here, each worth two hundred thousand dollars, so that’s 5.5 million dollars in total. Transfer the cash to her account, if you don’t mind.”

“Only three pills?” Jordan’s brow furrowed, thinking that three pills would barely last a month and a half.

Quiana let out a sigh. “You know how potent this stuff is. Being the middleman is no walk in the park.”

Hugo hid his face. If he didn’t know the truth, he might have bought into Quiana’s spiel.

Quiana was expanding her business so fast. People were lining up before they even knew the full effects of the medicine.

This was Jordan’s shot at saving his daughter. He handed over a bank card with a stern look. “There are six million dollars. If you have more later, hit me up, pronto.”

With his daughter still fighting in the hospital, Jordan didn’t linger.

Quiana caught the card and casually flipped it to Hugo, saying in a lazy tone. “For your school fees.”

“For… me?” Hugo held the card, his eyes wide with shock.

Simon and Mandy finally shook off their stupor, their faces dark and upset. “What exactly did you sell to Mr. Parker?”

Quiana replied offhandedly, “Didn’t you hear? Pills.”

“Quiana!” Mandy’s voice rose. “You grew up in the hood and haven’t seen much of the world. How could you have such medicine? You used to scam people, and now you’re still at it. What do you think you’re playing at?”

Simon showed no fatherly warmth, his face stern. “That’s the VP of East Aploth Airlines you just fooled. I don’t care what you sold him, get it back, now!”

East Aploth Airlines was not someone the Larson family could afford to tangle with. If things went south, they couldn’t even bear to think about the fallout.

Quiana spun her phone nonchalantly and said, “Once the deal’s done, no take–backs.” She acted fearless.

“You… fine!” Simon was so mad he leaned back, pointing at Quiana and yelling, “If trouble comes knocking, don’t think the Larsons will have your back!”

“Such an idiot,” Hugo muttered under his breath, unheard by anyone.

Riverfield, with its man–made hills and streams, was a picture of elegance. On the third floor, the manager stood nervously by the private room door, too scared to even breathe..

Inside the private room, Edward sat at the head of the table. Despite not feeling his best lately, his commanding presence, honed from years of strategic battles, made everyone else sit cautiously.
