Chapter 118
s seeing things. She thought, ’30 million dollars! I could never have that
Seeing the number pop up, Yvette thought she much money! Even if I did, I wouldn’t just give it away.’
Yvette clenched her jaw, gripping her phone so hard she nearly broke the screen. [30 thousand dollars, not a penny more!]
On the other end came a picture, a screenshot. It was the upload screen of tiktok, and the thumbnail was a still from the security footage of Warehouse 9’s door that day
Yvette wasn’t afraid of public gossip, but
e couldn’t let the Nelson family suspect her now. Her heart turned cold instantly. [300 thousand dollars! I don’t have any more than that!]
Feeling a bit panicked, she quickly typed: [You’ve definitely been digging into our affairs. You’ve seen the recent news. Lago doesn’t have money, and I have even less. 300 thousand dollars, accept it. Or you can just upload it, then you won’t get a penny!]
After hitting send, Yvette anxiously waited. The whole thing came out of nowhere, especially since she was just…
Yvette was too guilt-ridden to even think about questioning Lago. However, she didn’t have much respect for him deep down. She thought, ‘He can’t even handle such a small issue; asking him is pointless. Now he had me threatened!”
To Yvette, that single minute felt like an entire century. Finally, the other party responded: [Ms. Nelson, there is something else you can trade.]
Yvette was a bit cautious. [What do you mean?]
[5% of Lago Corporation’s shares.] Seeing this line, Yvette was taken aback.
She thought, ‘Lago Corporation is in a steep decline right now. Forget 300 thousand dollars, even half of it might not be enough to sell these shares. She had a nagging feeling that something was wrong, but in the next second, she received two attachments in an email. One was a share transfer contract, and the other showed the progress of a video upload, which had already reached 100%. Her mouse hovered over the confirm publish button.
[You can only choose one; countdown starts at ten. Ten. Nine.]
The other side was pressing her relentlessly, and Yvette felt like her heart was being tightly controlled, leaving her no time to think!
[Four. Three. Two.]
Watching the numbers get closer, Yvette shut her eyes tight, opened the transfer contract, approved it, signed her name electronically, and sent it back. After completing this step, she let out a big sigh of relief, feeling heavy-hearted. She waited for a reply, but none came. Reopening the email, Yvette found that all their previous chat emails had disappeared! It was as if what had just happened was something she dreamed up herself.
“How could this happen…” Yvette paused in shock for a moment. Then, with a delayed realization, she quickly put the old clothes and the talisman she got from Shakira together, and placed them under the bed.
Yvette plopped down on the bed, her racing heart gradually calming down. “It’s okay, things will soon go back to how they were,” she murmured to herself, trying to reassure herself
At the small villa in Eastlake Valley Estate, Shakira glanced at the signed contract displayed on the screen, her eyes flickering slightly. She moved the screenshot to the trash and emptied it completely. Then, she forwarded the contract to Sean with a note: [Put this together and set up a shareholders’ meeting.]
Sean messaged back: [OMG! You’re amazing, boss! I’ll get on it right away!]

With a slight curl of her lips, Shakira closed her laptop. Just then a young maid knocked and entered, carrying a basket that gave off an odd smell. “Ms. Nelson,” she greeted.
Shakira glanced at the basket and said, “Thank you, but I don’t need these clothes anymore.” The young maid looked surprised for a moment, then shook her head. “Ms. Nelson, you’re too kind. The old lady who picks up trash outside has never had proper clothing. If it weren’t for your kindness in giving her clothes, she wouldn’t have gotten through this winter.”
Shakira smiled slightly. “I should thank her for helping me a lot.” The young maid was confused. “Huh?”
Kyle was having dinner with Walter and a few others, talking about a new smart medical project their companies planned to work on together. The Veiled Vine had some new dishes that weren’t to Walter’s taste, but he thought Shakira would like them. He originally planned to bring her along, but Shakira said she had something to do. Walter was distracted, thinking, ‘What’s she really busy with at home? Studying?’
Calton delivered a lengthy speech, leaving him thirsty. He gulped down several sips of tea and noticed that Walter’s eyes were unfocused. Annoyed, he burst out, “Seriously? I talked so much, and you, big shot, didn’t even hear?”
Walter relaxed the corner of his eye slightly. “Hmm?”
This made Calton even more frustrated. “Hmm? What are you thinking, man!”
Walter blinked without any guilt, then calmly looked at Kyle. “Can you pack this up for me?”
Kyle was momentarily stunned before he replied, “Yeah, we can.”
Walter nodded. “When we leave, pack up some of the new dishes for me.”
“Okay.”
Hearing this, Calton nearly choked. “Wait, aren’t we discussing a multi-billion dollar project right now? And you’re thinking about taking food home? What are you doing, dude?”
Gavin, standing nearby, smiled knowingly. “Don’t you understand yet? Mr. Lopez is thinking about the little maid at home Since she couldn’t come, he’s packing these dishes for her to try.
Calton looked like he had just heard something ridiculous, his face resembling someone who had just come out of a haunted house. “What’s this all about?”
Gavin’s smile broadened, and he spoke with certainty. “Mr. Lopez has fallen in love, can’t contain himself. Naturally, he wants to share the best things with his girlfriend first!”
Walter gave him a deep look but said nothing. Didn’t admit it, but also… didn’t deny it!
Seeing Walter’s reaction, Kyle was shocked. Calton let out a heartfelt wail. “No way, Walter, you’re actually a potential love- struck person? I’m totally amazed!”
Just then, Walter’s phone rang. It was connected to the conference display, and without hesitating, Calton answered it and put it on speaker.
Who would’ve guessed, it wasn’t the little maid’s voice on the other end, but a sweet, flirtatious one instead. “Mr. Lopez, are you busy?”
Berry held her breath, cautiously. After leaving Eastlake Valley Estate, she returned to her room and vented all her
stop thinking about everything she’d seen at Eastlake Valley, consumed frustrations. Her eyes were red, and she couldn with jealousy to the point of madness!
