Chapter 123
Shakira exited Lago’s company and got into a Rolls–Royce Phantom parked nearby. Inside the car, Sean, who had listened to the entire board meeting upstairs via his Bluetooth headset, poured a glass of red wine and handed it to Shakira casually. “Congratulations, boss!”
Shakira sat next to him, took the wine glass, and gently swirled it her eyes slightly raised. “What’s there to celebrate?”
“Getting revenge isn’t worth a toast?” Shakira paused her swirling, then tilted her head back, finishing the wine with a soft. laugh. “This is far from over.”
Sean didn’t quite catch it and was about to ask when Shakira’s phone rang. It was Mitchell calling.
Before Shakira could answer, Sean swiftly grabbed the phone and connected the call, putting it on speaker with ease, looking eager to see what tricks that guy from the Nelson residence was up to.
Shakira fell silent.
Mitchell couldn’t wait any longer. “Shakira, I’ve got some great news for you–Lago is in big trouble, his company’s about to go under!”
Shakira replied, “I know.” She thought, ‘Not only do I know, but I was the one who orchestrated the whole thing.
Mitchell exclaimed in surprise, “Oh, did Walter tell you? My memory isn’t great, sorry about that.”
“Is that all you wanted to tell me?”
“Wait, don’t hang up! There’s something really important,” Mitchell shouted anxiously. “Shakira, when do you have time? Let’s sit down together as a family, have a nice meal, and talk things over calmly, okay?”
‘Calmly?‘ Shakira thought and chuckled sarcastically. “Are you sure that the Nelson family can be calm when they see me?”
Mitchell felt embarrassed and immediately promised, “Don’t worry, I’ve already talked to Mom, Dad, and Finn. They realized the past conflicts were just misunderstandings, and they also felt bad that you almost got caught up in Lago’s schemes. Maybe if we sit down as a family, we can really clear things up once and for all?”
Listening to Mitchell, Shakira thought he was naive. Just like she had been naive in her past life.
Shakira let out a silent, cold laugh. “No need. I don’t waste my time with strangers.” With that, Shakira hung up, leaving Sean no time to react. “No way, boss! Did you just shut them down like that?”
Shakira retorted, “What, you expect me to jump into that pit of snakes at the Nelson residence?”
“No way that’s happening!” Sean fumed. “You should agree to meet them. Then when they’re begging you to come back, you can really stick it to them!”
Shakira leaned back, her clear eyes looking cold. “No way. Those people, always thinking they’re better than everyone else, will never see their own mistakes, let alone say sorry.”
She thought, ‘In my past life, I naively had hope for the Nelson family. Now, I wouldn’t even think about it. Like what I’ve said, there’s no need.
Sean squinted. “Is this Nelson kid just a decoy, trying to trick you?”
“If it were someone else from the Nelson residence, maybe. But Mitchell… he doesn’t have the brains for that.”
“True, but on another note, why did Mitchell say it was Walter who told you about Lago? Boss, do you know someone from the Lopez family

Chapter 123
Shakira instinctively sat up siraight. “No idea, he’s just making things up.”
Sean scratched his head, feeling like something was off. “Really?” Shakira looked down at her phone, pretending to know nothing.
Sean kept trying to persuade Shakira to let him drive her home, so he could also remember the way.
Shakira firmly refused, insisting he drop her off by the road. Sean didn’t dare oppose her wishes, looking like an obedient puppy left behind by its owner.
Shakira watched the Rolls–Royce drive away. She opened her phone to call for a ride. Just then, she noticed a suspicious figure on the side of the road…
Sean came back again. Shakira sighed and rubbed her forehead in frustration. ‘Is this guy really this persistent or what?‘ she thought. She decided against calling for a ride and instead opened a delivery app.
Before long, a young female college student in a delivery uniform stopped in front of her on a small scooter, checking the order details. “Hi, are you the one who needs to send stuff to Eastlake Valley Estate?”
Shakira said, “Yes.”
“What is it? the girl asked.
“Me,” Shakira said.
“What?” the girl was surprised.
Shakira took the helmet from her and got onto the scooter. “Hold on tight around my waist, little sister.”
“Huh? Ah!” The delivery girl was caught off guard when her slow scooter suddenly shot off like an arrow, scaring her into clinging tightly to Shakira’s slim waist.
“Holy crap!” Sean jumped up. “Did the boss see me? No way!” Unwilling to believe it, he waved the car back and urgently patted the driver’s shoulder. “Hurry, follow that scooter up ahead!”
Shakira cranked up the speed of her scooter to the max, maneuvering swiftly through the bustling streets. As she approached a traffic light, she slammed on the brakes to a sudden stop. Nearby, a group of guys on motorcycles pulled up, lifted their visors, and burst out laughing when they saw her and her tiny scooter.
The young delivery girl, just recovering from the thrill of the speedy chase, heard their mocking laughter from both sides and shot them a sidelong glance. “What’s so funny? Even our scooter can be cool, alright!”
Her mumbling didn’t escape them, and the guys laughed even louder. “How fast can that scooter go? Thirty miles per hour? Hahaha.”
Her face flushed red. “It can still be cool!”
