Before Rebecca could step forward, Brian and the others had already stopped her, not letting her get closer. Not far away, Cody and Felix also walked over quickly, their faces cold and stern. 

Shakira looked at Rebecca’s weary and worried expression, a cold smile forming on her lips as she replied, “No way.” 

Rebecca’s eyes narrowed sharply, and she exploded in anger. “Shakira, do you have any humanity left? Yvette was framed and is about to lose her life, yet you’re making such heartless comments?” 

Shakira snapped, “She brought it on herself, She can’t blame anyone else.” 

“What do you know about those grudges? Right now, Yvette’s kidneys are severely damaged. We only ask for one kidney from you. At this critical moment, are you really going to stand by and watch her die?” 

Before Shakira could respond, Walter, filled with anger, spoke sharply, his strong presence pressing down on Rebecca, “Losing a kidney won’t kill her, so stop being so dramatic.”

Rebecca’s face was pale with anger. She forcefully swallowed the curses on the tip of her tongue, not daring to utter a single word of defiance to Walter. She simply couldn’t afford to offend him. 

‘Damn, that bitch must have learned the news early and intentionally stayed close to Walter. I can’t do anything to her, thought Rebecca. 

“Mr. Lopez.” Cody and Felix walked over with serious expressions. Felix looked completely exhausted. “This is a personal matter for the Nelson family, so we kindly ask Mr. Lopez…”

“After the surgery, we’ll have Yvette move out of the Nelson residence and publicly acknowledge your identity. From now on, you’ll be our only daughter in the Nelson family, no one else said Cody. 

Rebecca was utterly shocked. “Honey? No, you can’t just make Yvette leave. I don’t agree.” 

“Yvette is our daughter, and so is Shakira,” Cody stated firmly. “We can’t wrong Shakira and let her be disappointed in us!”

Rebecca couldn’t accept Cody’s decision at all and covered her face, bursting into tears. Felix’s expression wasn’t any better, clearly very reluctant about such an arrangement. 

Looking at their earnest and self–sacrificing faces, Shakira couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle. 

She thought, ‘Do they really think I still have hopes for them? Do they think I am delighted to be the daughter of the Nelson family? What a big joke!‘ 

At first, it was just a light chuckle escaping her throat, but gradually, Shakira doubled over, laughing uncontrollably.
