Jonathan wasted no time in making a decision regarding the 

shares. 

“If Ceci is interested in acquiring the shares, let’s sell them to her. Consider it our form of compensation for her. Even if Yancey Corporation eventually falls into her hands, she will continue to carry the Yancey family name,” Jonathan remarked. 

Sophia disagreed with his statement and impatiently remarked, “She will get married in the future!” 

By implication, Yancey Corporation would likely undergo a name change. 

Jonathan urged, “Mom, for now, let’s not dwell on these matters too much. If Christopher takes control of Yancey Corporation, it will undoubtedly thrive.” 

They, as stakeholders of Yancey Corporation, also stood to gain. 

Sophia found it extremely ironic, saying, “We’ve become what we are today, all thanks to Christopher, and it’s indeed ironic that we’ll need to depend on him for our future financial prospects.” 

“Mom, don’t be so pessimistic. If you look at it from a different perspective, it’s like Christopher is earning money for us.” 

After saying that, Jonathan promptly reached out to Cecilia via email and agreed to the share–selling matter. 

However, within just two minutes, Cecilia introduced an additional condition. 

In frustration, Sophia exclaimed, “She’s pushing her luck too far. I won’t sell these shares, even if it leads to bankruptcy.”

Jonathan tried to console her, “Mom, don’t worry. Ceci’s new conditions aren’t about money or shares.” 

“Then what does she want?” she asked. 

Jonathan explained, “She’s requesting that I commit to a one–year employment contract with Yancey Corporation, with no option to quit or take any time off.” 

Sophia was perplexed. “Isn’t that a bit excessive? I mean, you’re the CEO of Yancey Corporation, and you already have a long–term contract with the company.” 

She continued, “Yancey Corporation doesn’t just belong to the Yancey family. It also encompasses the shareholders. Even the director holds an official appointment letter. All other 

employees have their own employment contracts. It’s essential for their salaries to be processed.” 

Jonathan cleared his throat and looked embarrassed. 

“The CEO contract will be terminated and replaced with a regular employment contract,” he confessed. 

Sophia frowned. “What does that mean? Are they asking you to start over from the ground level? Isn’t that underutilizing your skills?” 

As soon as she finished speaking, she quickly realized Cecilia’s intent and commented, “She’s intentionally trying to humiliate you!” 

Jonathan nodded and admitted, “I did a lot of foolish things for Juliana in the past, and Ceci has every right to be angry. That’s why I agreed to it. It’s only for a year, and it will pass quickly.” 

At that moment, he had no idea how challenging the next year would be. 

Very quickly, Cecilia received the share transfer agreement sent by Jonathan.

Shortly afterward, the car came to a halt at the entrance of Emerald Mansion. 

Cecilia stepped out of the car and made her way into the living 

room. 

As he heard the car’s arrival, Christopher descended from the upper floor. Although his leg injury had notably improved, he still walked with a noticeable limp. 

Cecilia hurriedly went forward to support him and said, 

“You’ve been on your feet a lot today. Why are you still moving around?” 

With excitement in his voice, Christopher exclaimed, “I have some good news I couldn’t wait to share with you.” 

Cecilia suggested, “Let’s sit down on the couch and discuss it.” They both took a seat on the couch, and Christopher peeled an apple for Cecilia as he shared the good news. 

“Ceci, just as you predicted, the killer had his sights set on Yvette. When he was researching Yvette online, I managed to track him,” he explained. 

With a whirlwind of events taking place that day, Cecilia had been tirelessly on the move, leaving her quite exhausted. 

Nevertheless, upon hearing Christopher’s words, she immediately perked up. 

“Have you found the person?” Cecilia asked.

“The other party had a robust firewall. They detected the tracking and promptly severed the network connection. I could only determine their approximate location. The police are currently conducting an investigation.” Christopher spoke with a sense of resignation, well aware that finding the person was a long shot. 

“Considering how cautious the other party was, they have probably already fled. But once we pinpoint their location, we can uncover additional leads. So, it won’t be in vain,” he added. Cecilia shared a similar perspective, confident that with sufficient leads, locating the individual wouldn’t be a challenge. “Do we have any updates from the hospital side?” she asked. She had previously sent a composite drawing of the killer and provided Christopher with the precise location of their departure from the hospital. 

Given that more than two hours had elapsed, there should have been some developments. 

Christopher handed the peeled apple to Cecilia. 

“He was extremely cautious and almost didn’t show up on the surveillance cameras. Later, I retraced the path based on his foothold, which allowed me to capture a few images, but they didn’t offer much assistance,” Christopher explained. 

He went on, “The man kept his face hidden behind sunglasses and a mask throughout the entire time. We couldn’t capture his face. But it’s unlikely he can maintain this disguise indefinitely. As soon as we pinpoint his whereabouts, we may have a chance to obtain an image.” 

Cecilia took a bite of the apple, which was crisp, sweet, and juicy. 

Moving closer to Christopher, she leaned against his shoulder and asserted with confidence, “As long as he hasn’t left Quilton, we will definitely find him.”

Christopher tilted his head and planted a kiss on Cecilia’s forehead. 

“The dismemberment and incineration case involving Juliana is classified as a severe and heinous crime, and law enforcement is giving it the utmost attention. They have intensified monitoring of key transportation routes, so his escape is unlikely. It’s just a matter of time before he’s apprehended.” 

After that, he brought up another matter. “Ceci, are you still planning to visit your teammate’s family?” 

Paying them a visit under the current circumstances would undoubtedly put them in harm’s way. 

After the appearance of the killer, Cecilia had abandoned that idea. 

She shook her head. “Not for the time being. Let’s go somewhere else. I want you to meet someone.”

Cecilia was about to nod when she remembered something. “Did the bodyguard give you the items I purchased at the antique market this morning?” 

Her mind had been preoccupied with thoughts of the killer, and she had completely forgotten about the matter after returning to Emerald Mansion. 

Christopher inquired, “I had the butler place them in the storage. Do you need them now?” 

“Yes, I need to compose a comprehensive description and then submit it to Mr. Quinn’s auction,” Cecilia responded. 

There were a few valuable items. When everything was added up, it amounted to 1 billion dollars, which should suffice for a
