Chapter 22
Cecilia was not sure whether the Yancey family would agree to the third condition.
Fifteen percent of Yancey Corporation’s shares were worth at least hundreds of millions of dollars.
Even if the Yancey family loved Juliana, they might not be willing to spend so much money on her.
As she expected, Sophia was unhappy.
Sophia immediately went to Juliana’s ward, trying to figure out what was going on.
Juliana was still sleeping.
Sophia splashed a glass of cold water directly on her face.
Jonathan wanted to stop her but was too late.
Seeing that Sophia was about to pull Juliana up, he hurriedly stopped her.
“Mom, Julia is badly injured. Please don’t do this.”
Juliana’s injured forehead hurt. She gradually woke up and saw the angry Sophia when she opened her eyes.
She immediately realized that her pretending to be sick must have been exposed.
She had already figured out her excuses.
She pulled away her wet hair and covered the wet bandage. Her eyes were red, and her eyelashes trembled slightly. She looked very pathetic.
Sophia felt sorry for her, but she didn’t say anything.
“Jonathan, go get a doctor to redo Julia’s bandage.”
Actually, she could’ve just rang the call bell, but she wanted to talk with Juliana alone.

Jonathan knew his mother’s intention, so he hummed in agreement and left.
The ward was so quiet that Juliana could hear her heartbeat clearly.
She said in a weak and trembling voice, “Mom, y–you know it, don’t you?”
Sophia’s suppressed anger surged again.
“What do you think I should know?”
“Sorry, I shouldn’t have lied to you that I was still sick, but I was so scared.”
“What are you scared of?”
“I’m afraid that you will not want me after finding your own daughter, so I pretend to be sick and weak. I just want you to love me more and not treat me as an outsider.” After saying that, Juliana burst into tears.
Juliana was the daughter Sophia had cared for since the latter was a child, after all. Even if she was angry, she couldn’t bear to see Juliana so sad.
“Julia, you are too selfish. Not only did you cause your family to worry about your illness, but Ceci lost so much blood in vain. You even turned all of us into bad guys!”
“Mom, I know I was wrong. You must be disappointed in me, but I didn’t mean to hurt Ceci. I pretended to be sick at the same frequency as two years ago. Although Ceci would be a little weak, she would definitely be fine. Out of guilt, I changed my manners to treat Ceci well and saved a lot of money. I planned to find an opportunity to give the money to her. I didn’t use Ceci’s blood. I saved it all up. Rh–negative blood type is rare, so saving it in advance has no harm.” Juliana spoke with sincerity, but Sophia was doubtful.
“Julia, what Dr. Fowler said is different from what you said.”
“Dr. Fowler is not a good person, and what I said to him has

always been half–true.” With that, Juliana wiped away the tears in her eyes and looked at Sophia with a smile.
“Mom, I’ve disappointed you. I will leave the Yancey family and give back everything that belongs to Ceci. If you need me in the future, I won’t refuse. I will repay you for raising me all these years.”
་་
Sophia looked at Juliana’s forced smile, feeling uncomfortable.
However, Juliana’s mistake was so grave that Sophia couldn’t forgive her.
When the atmosphere was a little stiff, Jonathan pushed the door open and asked the doctor to bandage Juliana again.
“Mom, let’s go out and talk.”
He heard their conversation when standing outside the door just now.
Sophia was confused and needed to calm down, so she went out of the ward first.
Jonathan comforted Juliana, “Julia, don’t think too much. Recover first.”
“Okay, Jo… Mr. Yancey.”
Juliana deliberately changed the way she addressed him.
As she expected, Jonathan’s face changed, but he didn’t say anything and turned around to leave.
Sophia stood at the end of the corridor and rubbed her temples irritably.
Jonathan walked over and asked, “Mom, although Juliana did something wrong, she did all that because she felt insecure. Do we really want to watch Cecilia ruin her?”
He was a little disappointed with Juliana, but he wanted to forgive her since she was the little sister he had cared for since they were little.
“Jonathan, I cannot think straight now. As long as I think of

Ceci, I feel guilty.”
“Juliana is at fault for pretending to be ill and asking Cecilia for a blood transfusion, but she didn’t hurt anyone after all. Cecilia will feel better once she recuperates. But Cecilia went too far. She first snatched Juliana’s resources and then wanted to destroy her, making our family a laughingstock.”
Hearing that, Sophia nodded in agreement.
“Yes, and Ceci’s request is too much. How dare she demand 15% of the shares?”
Speaking of that, Jonathan got angry.
“Mom, I told you this. Cecilia doesn’t reject money. She just disdained the little amount we offered her. She wanted 60 million dollars when she left. Now, she’s asking for shares. Next time, she may even request to take over the entire Yancey Corporation!”
Sophia, who had been feeling a little guilty toward Cecilia at first, suddenly felt only resentful toward her.
She thought, “This daughter of mine is no different from a debt collector! No matter how bad my adopted daughter is, she’s raised by myself. She’s much better than my biological daughter!”
After thinking about it, she made a decision.
“Jonathan, can you call Cecilia and bargain with her to accept ten percent shares of Yancey Corporation? I’ll talk to Julia again.”
The reason why Sophia wanted to give only ten percent was because that was the amount Juliana possessed.
Of course, Juliana had to deal with the trouble she caused herself.
Sophia entered the ward.
The wound on Juliana’s forehead had been re–bandaged.

The doctor warned, “Don’t make the wound wet again. It’ll be easy to get infected and unfavorable for recovery, leaving scars easily.”
Then, he left the ward.
The hospital gown Juliana was wearing had turned wet, and the air conditioner in the ward was turned on, which made her lips turn pale.
Sophia said, “Put on the quilt. Let’s finish our business, and you can change your clothes.”
“Okay, Mrs. Yancey.”
Sophia wasn’t fond of how Juliana now addressed her.
“Julia, you are my daughter. This won’t change because of anything.”
Juliana bit her lips, looking touched but afraid to respond.
Sophia didn’t have time to comfort her and said, “Julia, during your comatose period, Professor Foster gave you a general examination. He is now holding an analysis meeting with your previous medical records and current examination reports. If he doesn’t stop you from pretending to be ill, everyone will know about it, and your reputation will be completely destroyed.”
Hearing that, Juliana immediately changed her expression. She hurriedly grabbed Sophia’s hand and said anxiously, “Mom, it doesn’t matter that my reputation is destroyed, but I can’t implicate you. Just reveal my identity as the adopted daughter and sever ties with me.”
Sophia’s grudge toward Juliana completely disappeared.
“Julia, it’s not so serious. Cecilia has offered three conditions. As long as I agree, you can keep your reputation.”
“Mom, what are the three conditions?”
Sophia repeated Cecilia’s words word by word.

Juliana’s face turned pale every time she heard a condition.
Her hands, hidden in the quilt, clenched into fists, her nails digging deep into her palm. Her resentment toward Cecilia grew.
She thought, “This bitch isn’t making her demands at all. She wants to take everything from me and destroy me completely!”
Seeing that Juliana was silent, Sophia said, “Julia, no matter what you think, I respect your decision.”
Of course, she preferred to agree to Cecilia’s offer.
Juliana understood Sophia’s thoughts and knew she had no choice.
She suppressed the unwillingness in her heart and said, “Mom, Ceci’s request is not too much. I agree to it at all, but I only have ten percent of the shares in my hand. I’m willing to reimburse the remaining five percent with everything I own. Will Ceci agree?”
As soon as she finished speaking, Jonathan opened the door and came in.
“Cecilia refused and said that she would only accept 15% of the shares. The amount can only be more, not lesser.”
Sophia was so angry that her charming face became contorted with rage.
“Give it to her first. We’ll find another chance to get it back!”
“Okay.”
Jonathan immediately asked his lawyer to draft a share transfer agreement, transferring Juliana’s ten percent and his five percent to Cecilia.
After ending the call with his lawyer, he called Cecilia.
“We agree to the three conditions you mentioned, but it will
take time for the equity transfer. You can contact Professor Foster first and tell him not to hurt Julia.”

“Okay. I’ll see you in an hour. You have to fulfill the first two conditions and give me the share transfer agreement.
Otherwise…”
Everyone knew what she meant before she even finished her
sentence.
Jonathan snorted coldly. “Don’t worry. I won’t go back on what I promised you. Don’t go back on your word!”
“I’m not that unethical.”
After saying that, Cecilia hung up the phone and called Philip.
An hour later, she came to the hospital and went straight to Juliana’s ward.
After knowing the three conditions mentioned by Cecilia, the Yancey family came to support Juliana.
No one felt sorry for Cecilia. They all thought that Juliana had made a mistake and could be forgiven.
