Cecilia and Elaine went to the living room. 

Charlie sat on the couch, drinking coffee made for him by the housekeeper. 

Because he had just undergone skin treatment, the scars on his face were somewhat red and looked even more terrifying. 

He put down his coffee cup and greeted Elaine, “Mrs. Shaw, you look good today.” 

Elaine sat on the couch and said with a smile, “It’s rare for Evan to be home. Of course, I’m happy.” Then, she asked with concern, “Charlie, how is your face?” 

Charlie touched his uneven face and smiled faintly. “It can be cured, but it will take a long time.” 

“As long as it can be cured. You are still young and can afford to wait.” “Mrs. Shaw, do you know that? I’d love to die with my original face, but I probably won’t make it in time,” Charlie said in his mind. 

Once he took Cecilia to the headquarters, he would be of no value. If the shareholders doubted him, they wouldn’t let him live. 

“You’re right, Mrs. Shaw. It’s been so long, and it’s nothing to wait for another one or two years.” 

Elaine said, “That’s quite a long time. Are you going to stay in the hotel the whole time?” 

“Well, it’s convenient for me to stay in a hotel where someone cleans the room, changes the bedding, and does the laundry. It’s perfect for me.” Elaine laughed and said, “You really know how to enjoy life. Would you stay for dinner tonight?” 

Charlie nodded without hesitation. 

“Mrs. Shaw, I want to take pictures of the crape myrtles in the backyard. There is a new medicine that needs pictures for advertising. The crape myrtles under the sunset will be perfect.” 

“Go ahead. Do you need a camera?” 

“No. Today’s mobile phones have high pixels and are sufficient for taking pictures.”

Cecilia felt that Charlie was lying, so she got up and said, “I also want to enjoy the crape myrtles. I haven’t had a good look at them in the past three years. 

Charlie smiled and looked at Cecilia. “Cecilia, if you are so clingy to me, won’t your boyfriend be jealous?” 

“Who clings to you? This is my home. I can go wherever I want!” 

With that, Cecilia left the living room. 

Elaine watched the two of them leave and smiled. Then, she beckoned 

Bruce over and said, “Today’s dinner will be half an hour later than usual. And make more food.” 

“Sure, Mrs. Shaw.” 

Cecilia went to the equipment room through the route she had taken three days ago. 

In the southwest corner outside the equipment room, there was a 16–foot–high crape myrtle tree. 

The summer breeze brought a faint fragrance of flowers while the pink and purple petals fell with the wind and scattered onto the ground, forming a romantic floral carpet. 

Charlie took out his phone and took pictures of the fallen flowers on the ground and the bunches of flowers on the tree under the orange sunset. 

The picture was beautiful, but it was nothing special because the colors in the sky were too rich to highlight the beauty of the crape myrtles. In other words, Charlie’s reason for going there was false. 

Cecilia asked bluntly, “Charlie, why did you come here?” 

She didn’t communicate in Morse code but asked directly because the electromagnetic radiation in the equipment room was so powerful that the listening device couldn’t work. 

While sending the photos to John, Charlie said, “The shareholders of Wolf Killer are suspicious of me.” 

He didn’t make it clear, but Cecilia understood. 

Three days ago, something had happened to Yvette. Cecilia had 

confronted Charlie outside the equipment room for a long time, causing the listening device to stop working. As a result, the eavesdropper had suspected Charlie. 

Just as Cecilia was about to say that Jeffrey might be a shareholder,

Charlie said, “I will deal with Aiden with all my might in Dad and Mom’s cemetery tomorrow. Tell him to watch out.” 

He didn’t want to fight with his family at the cemetery, but he had no choice.

“Okay, I get it.” That piece of information made her trust Charlie even more. She said, “Charlie, Jeffrey is likely to be one of the shareholders.” Charlie was watching the fading sunset when he heard that. He immediately turned to look at Cecilia and asked, “Why do you think so?” He also suspected Jeffrey’s identity and had been monitoring him secretly but didn’t find out anything. 

Cecilia didn’t hide her doubt but expressed it openly. “Charlie, haven’t you noticed anything wrong with Jeffrey over the years?” 

Charlie shook his head and said, “No.” After answering, he added, “I didn’t realize it until you said it. The strangest thing is that there is nothing 

wrong. 

The shareholders of Wolf Killer were secretive, and it was not surprising that they were good actors and could hide things from him. 

It would be interesting if Jeffrey was indeed a shareholder. 

He asked Cecilia, “What’s your plan?” 

Cecilia reached out to catch a falling petal and held it tightly in her palm. 

“Detain Jeffrey after you have captured me.” 

“If there is no suitable reason to detain Jeffrey, the other three shareholders will be suspicious. Even if I take you to the headquarters, we won’t be able to execute the plan, and there will only be needless sacrifice.” 

“Charlie, Jeffrey definitely has ulterior motives for coming to Acocester and entering the military hospital. We just need to wait for him to take action.” 

Cecilia told Charlie her plan in order to test him for one last time. 

To put it bluntly, Charlie was just a dog of Jeffrey in Wolf Killer. If what he said and did was only an act, he would definitely inform Jeffrey and let him escape. Otherwise, he would be trustworthy.
