Chapter 243 

Anyone would want to know when suddenly receiving news about their brother who had passed away over 20 years ago. 

Unfortunately, Aiden had long known that Zachary was Charlie. 

He stared at the bewildered Jeffrey. His cold and stern face was dark and frightening. 

“Why? How dare you kill my brother and want to use him to deceive me now?” After saying that, he threw away the bloodstained test tube in his hand, clenched his fist, and punched Jeffrey’s mouth hard. 

The wound in Jeffrey’s mouth cracked, and his bloody tooth flew out, then hit the tiles with a soft tinkling sound. 

Jeffrey had never suffered such great pain before, so he almost passed out again. 

Aiden grabbed Jeffrey by the collar and pulled the latter to himself, his gaze as sharp as a dagger. 

“What do you know about my brother?” 

He wanted to see if Jeffrey would betray Wolf Killer to save his own life. 

For Jeffrey, Charlie was just a pawn he could use, a bargaining chip for his survival. 

Seeing Aiden’s concern for Charlie, he pulled out a smug smile. 

“Commander Shaw, now there are three people you care about, all under my control. I advise you to be more polite to me.” 

Aiden’s fists clenched with a cracking sound, and his gaze seemed capable of murdering someone. 

“No matter how much I care about them, I won’t compromise my principles. Twenty–three years ago, the Shaw family could give up on Charlie. Now, I can let go of them as well.” 

“If you truly don’t care, you wouldn’t have said so much to me, Commander Shaw!” Jeffrey retorted. 

“You’re wrong. I’ve said so much to you because your life is under my control. If you want to die, I can grant you that, and if you want to live, I can also make it happen.” 

That statement made Jeffrey’s smile disappear.

It might seem like he had the upper hand, but he was still under Aiden’s control. 

The one who backed down first lost. Since Jeffrey did not want to die, he was destined to compromise with Aiden. 

However, he now had an additional card to play, increasing the likelihood of successfully escaping. 

He spat out the blood from his mouth and said word by word, “I want to stay alive. Let’s discuss the terms. If we can agree, it’s a win–win situation.” Aiden released Jeffrey and smoothed out his crumpled collar. The seemingly appeasing gesture, however, was filled with threats at every 

turn. 

“If you want to discuss it with me, save Ceci first.” 

Jeffrey glanced at Cecilia, who was unconscious on the bench, and a grim smile tugged at the swollen corner of his mouth. 

He thought, “Since Aiden cares so much about Cecilia, I definitely can’t save her. I need to keep this bargaining chip.” 

“I can save Mrs. Shaw first, but I have a condition.” 

“You’re not in a position to negotiate conditions with me!” 

“Commander Shaw, pushing me too far won’t benefit you, will it?” 

Aiden frowned slightly, hesitated for a moment, and asked, “What is your condition?” 

Seeing his compromise, Jeffrey secretly heaved a sigh of relief. He was afraid Aiden would not budge, which would put him in real trouble. 

Fortunately, Aiden was not unassailable. 

“I don’t want to feel watched whenever I need to use the restroom. I hope your people will stay outside the laboratory.” After speaking, Jeffrey realized his demand was a little excessive, so he added, “You can install surveillance cameras in the laboratory, except for the restroom.” 

Aiden nodded. “Sure! When can you save my grandma? Her health is deteriorating, and she needs the antidote as soon as possible.” 

Feeling pain all over his body, Jeffrey intentionally said, “It would have taken just an hour initially, but given my current physical condition, I’m afraid it’ll take three hours to finish.” 

“You only have one hour. Can you do it?” 

“I need at least two hours.”

Hearing Jeffrey’s response, Aiden stood up and instructed his security details, “Every ten minutes, hit him until he compromises or dies.” 

“Yes, Commander!” The response from the four men was deafening, and Jeffrey was once again filled with panic. 

He did not expect Aiden to be so difficult to communicate with and quickly responded, “Okay, one hour it is, but you have to keep your promise, too.” 

“You prove yourself first, and then we’ll talk. Start the timer now.” 

With that, Aiden picked up Cecilia and left the laboratory. 

Jeffrey did not dare to waste any time. He immediately got up, endured the excruciating pain in his body, and continued working on the antidote. 

Only by making the first move could he facilitate the negotiation of terms that would follow. 

As soon as Cecilia left the laboratory, she immediately opened her eyes. 

However, she was much weaker than before, even struggling with each breath. 

Seeing her struggling to open her eyes, Aiden asked with concern, “Ceci, how are you feeling?” 

“Aiden, I’m feeling uncomfortable. I need to detoxify immediately.” 

“All right, tell me what to do, and I’ll take care of it.” 

Knowing that Aiden had a good memory, Cecilia explained the detoxification process to him. 

After Aiden carried Cecilia to the VIP ward, he immediately summoned the hospital director and provided him with the detailed detoxification steps in writing. 

“Director, I want you to personally conduct Ceci’s detoxification, and there must be no room for any mishaps.” 

“Yes, I’ll go now,” replied the director. 

Cecilia’s poisoning was merely a ruse to deceive Jeffrey, so there was no real need for detoxification now. 

An hour later, Jeffrey prepared the antidote for Elaine, and the hospital director had finished brewing the detoxification concoction for Cecilia. 

Cecilia drank the detoxification concoction. While she did not 

immediately recover, she did regain some of her strength and vitality.

Aiden did not immediately let Elaine take the antidote prepared by Jeffrey because he was concerned that there might be some issues with it. 

He waited for Cecilia to recover and then showed her the recorded process of Jeffrey creating the antidote. 

“Ceci, please help to see if Jeffrey tampered with the antidote.”
