Ethan

I glance at Matt who is working on his computer, half lying on the couch in my office. It's been a thousand times I guess I told him to at least try to be a bit professional when he's with me. But it's Matt after all.

Today morning I had to go to visit a construction site with Evelyn and Liam was there too. I don't know why but seeing his face is enough to anger me. Maybe he has some tectonic problems with his face.

It's only evening now but I can't wait anymore to go home. It's weird how the same me used to spend the whole night in the office just months back.

I look down at the file in my hand in irritation. It's boring.

I sigh and look away when my eyes fall on my phone. And I smile.

I take the phone and type a message to Evelyn.

Ethan: Are you home already?

I wait a minute before my phone buzzes.

Evelyn: On my way.

I type the next message, a huge smile on my face.

Ethan: Missing me?

Evelyn: Oh you wish!

My lips turn into a pout as I read the message. Doesn't she miss me at all? Maybe it's only me who is missing her like crazy.

Ethan: But I'm missing you a lot.

I write honestly.

While I wait for her reply, I look up to unexpectedly meet Matt's questioning gaze. He has his laptop beside him as he's sitting straight, watching me attentively with both of his hands on his cheeks like Evelyn watches criminal minds. He wiggles his eyebrows at me as he asks,

"Are you ok, bro? One second smiling, the next moment pouting? I guess something is wrong with your system." He taps his chin, playfully.

I glare at him, "Nothing's wrong. Stop disturbing my work and do yours."

"Tsk tsk tsk. I'm watching how much you're working. Liar, liar, pants on fire!" He says, laughing like an idiot.

"Are you 5 or what? Someone, please tell him to grow up." I shake my head.

"Don't worry about me dude. Now tell me who you were texting. Well, let me guess." He thinks for a while before smirking, "Evie, right?"

"Yeah, so what?" I snap, irritated.

"So nothing lover boy." He shrugs.

I am about to speak when my phone buzzes again.

I look down and read her text and an involuntary smile breaks through my face.

Evelyn: Then come home early today.

I think I just needed to hear that to close the file I was working on.

"Hey hey where are you going?" Matt asks me as I stand up, gathering my things.

"Home."

I say as soon as he gives me a shocked look.

"What? Why? It's just evening. You never ever went home this early. And above all, you're supposed to join a meeting with Mr. Liam in thirty minutes. "

"Well, cancel it. I'm in a good mood and don't want to see that fucker right now. "

He frowns at me, "Fucker? What has that innocent guy ever done to you?"

"Excuse me? Innocent? Innocent my ass. I can't stand him." I bite out.

"And might I know the reason?"

"Evelyn had a crush on him when they were in high school and now that fucker wants her back. God damnit!"

Matt keeps watching me with wide eyes for a pretty few seconds before he bursts out laughing and falls back on the couch.

Did I say something funny?

"Why the hell are you laughing?" I ask, annoyed.

"Oh my God! Ethan fucking Jones is jealous! It's not like he's snatching your Evelyn away from you." He says between his laughter.

Taking the file off my desk, I throw it aiming at his face but he catches it skillfully.

"I will chop off his fucking head if he even thinks of that."

I say and walk towards the door, Matt still laughing.

As I open the door, I hear him say,

"Ethan became a lovesick puppy! Hahahahaha!"

"Fuck you!" I shout, before closing the door.

Evelyn

I open the door as I push myself into the house and kick my shoes off. I throw my purse on the couch as well as plop myself on it. Resting my back on the pillow, I close my eyes when the phone rings out. Opening the purse, I take it out to see Nick's name flashing on the screen. I miss them so much. It's been so many days I didn't get to talk to Nick or Leah.

Receiving the call, I put it in my ear,

"Hey, Nicki!" I greet him.

"Yo babe! Seems like you forgot us."

"No, Nicki." I pout, "I was just too busy. Sorry."

"You know what? You put all your attention into your work. It's not good at all to work that much."

"Don't talk like dad," I say, chuckling. "By the way, how are you doing? And how's Lee?"

"We're doing great. You can't imagine what happened last night. We sneaked out of the house and went to a party because Mr grumpy pants…um...I mean Leah's dad would never permit us." He says, laughing.

I giggle as I reply, "Nicki! You can't address your soon-to-be father-in-law like that. Learn how to respect people." I scold playfully.

"But he doesn't like me. I don't know how I will tell him about us. He will surely chop me in pieces. But Aunt Mary is sweet though. She knows about us too."

I know managing my uncle will be hard. He has always been strict about life rules and not to mention, Nick is someone who doesn't even know what that word means. There will be a war for sure when he gets to know about their relationship.

"I know. Uncle is always like this. But don't worry much. He loves Leah so much and when her happiness is with you, he will agree eventually."

"Hmm...let's see. Ok, enough of us. Tell me how you are."

"I'm good," I say, biting my lip.

I guess I should at least tell Nick that I'm now in Ethan's house. I'm feeling so bad for not saying that earlier. But if I tell Leah now, she will surely kill me.

"Nick? I have to tell you something important. I know I should have told a long time ago but I was nervous."

"What is it?"
