Evelyn's POV

I secretly take a look at Cathie who's sitting across my desk and I smile appreciatively. She's wearing a navy blue blazer underneath a grey t-shirt and her hair is up in a ponytail. Very simple but still so beautiful.

I close my laptop and she looks up, stopping playing with the paperweight.

"So Cathie, how's it going?"

"I'm doing just fine. Work and home, that's it." She says, her face glowing with a small smile.

I chuckle as I say, "Yeah. You're one unique girl. By the way, have you ever been in a relationship? Of course, if you don't mind telling me."

"No, no, it's ok. Actually, I haven't. Just didn't get the time to think about something else. You know, always being swamped with so many responsibilities." Says she, shrugging.

"Don't you sometimes wonder how it would be to have a caring, sweet boyfriend?"

She laughs, carefree, "To be honest, I do. But then I remind myself that I don't have the time and who would like a simple girl like me?"

I roll my eyes, "Cathie, please! You're such a beautiful girl. I'm sure there are boys lined up to be with you. You just don't notice." She chuckles, shaking her head.

"Umm...what do you think about Matt? How's he?" As soon as I bring up the topic, she looks down seeming kinda nervous all of a sudden.

"I..you mean..."

"I mean does he seem good?"

"Yeah...he is helpful, charming, funny and-"

"And?" I ask.

"And good looking...I guess?" She chuckles nervously and I burst out laughing.

After all, it's Cathie.

"You guess?! Obviously, he's good-looking." I state, "Did you look at his eyes? Such gorgeous ocean blue eyes."

Ethan would be mad if he could hear me!

"His eyes are beautiful. Yeah." A hint of blush creeps upon her cheeks as she smiles.

I think she has a tiny crush on him too. I ship!

I am about to speak again when I catch a glimpse of Matt walking into the building in the CCTV. I need to leave soon.

I stand up and gather some files hurriedly that Cathie will have to work on now. Intentionally, I put some more files so that they can spend more time together and at last when I'm done, I see her staring at the piles of files with wide eyes.

I let out a chuckle before saying, "Too many files, right? That's why I asked Matt to come over to help you with these."

Her eyes shoot up in surprise, "He's coming?"

"Yes!" I say in a chirpy voice.

I'm acting like a fangirl lol. Not my fault. I'm just excited.

I take my purse and proceed to leave when Cathie calls me, "Evie? Where are you going?"

"Me? Me… Oh, I just remembered I have to go home soon. Ethan caught a cold."

Such a lame excuse! *face-palms*

"Yeah. Bye." I turn around and bump into Matt hard and he stumbles back a little for the hit.

"Oww! Why are you in such a hurry?" He asks me.

"Because uhm... Ethan is sick?"

He narrows his eyes at me, "But I just saw him fine. I mean he's waiting for you in the parking..."

"Shut up!" I hit his head with my purse, "Ethan caught a cold, you forgot?"

He seems confused while I shove him aside from the doorway. He's stupid just like his friend.

Before leaving, I turn my head to see them staring at me, surprised.

I wave them bye and say, "Work attentively. Have a great time. Bye!"

Closing the door behind me, I head to the elevator laughing. After getting to the ground floor, I walk out of the building and towards the parking lot where I see Ethan leaning against his car in a dark blue denim shirt, sleeves rolled up, and messy hair with sunglasses.

He greets me with a mesmerizing smile as I reach him.

"Everything's okay? You never leave this early." He asks, tucking some hair behind my ear.

"Everything's good. I just made Cathie and Matt work together and I left saying you're sick. " I grin cheekily.

"Really?"

"Yes. They'll spend more and more time together from today onwards because I ship!" I say, excitedly and he laughs.

"Alright but I'm totally fine. So what are we supposed to do now?"

I think for a while before looking up at him smiling, "I wanna go to an amusement park!"

He puts off his sunglasses as he stares at me like I'm crazy.

"What?! Amusement park? How old are you again?" He asks, shocked, making me scowl.

"Fine. You don't have to go." I say, huffing, "I'll just go home. Not yours of course." I pretend to leave just to be turned around again by him.

"Wait, not mine, then whose?"

I shrug, "Mine. Or maybe..."

"Maybe?"

"Liam's. You know he won't mind at all if I give him a surprise visit." I smirk causing him to shake his head 'no'.

"What the fuck! No way. Never. Amusement park? Okay, fine. Get in the car."

I let out a little squeal, "Gladly."

"You want to get into that thingy?" I shout dragging Ethan with me.

"What? No! That's so high."

"That one?"

"That's so fast. You'll fall down."

"Then that one?"

"Oh my God, my head is spinning already."

"You're no fun at all." I pout and am about to ask him to let him get into that ride when I see a teddy bear shop.
