Trouble in Paradise (Arianna and Nicholas) novel Chapter 212

Biting my lip hard, I tried to figure out how much physical pain would hurt as much as the ache in my heart.

I could not understand why Nicholas would always play the victim whenever he accused me. What about all the unfairness I was enduring then?

But things could just be strange sometimes. What one saw might not necessarily be the truth, and I would not be able to explain myself clearly no matter what.

People would simply decide who seemed more pitiful, and that person would become the underdog even if he was wealthy, powerful, and physically healthy.

Nicholas seemed to see through my intentions. His thumb pressed against the corner of my mouth as he slowly freed my lower lip from between my teeth.

Taking a deep breath, I stood up with Nicholas's help before swatting his hand away. "Since you've heard everything clearly, let me save some energy. Don't make me find any women for you. If you still want your father to live a bit longer, take care of him yourself, and don't make him angry!"

"Fair enough." Nicholas chuckled while he gripped my shoulders. "It's in a man's nature to seek out women!"

"I might not even approve of the women you find."

He said, "But I'm curious about your taste. Why don't you help me decide? If you like the woman, my father probably will too."

Then, he grabbed my hand and started walking. Without giving me any chance to refuse, he brought me to an upscale club.

Nicholas did not usually enjoy going out, but it did not mean he didn't know where to have fun.

I could not handle noisy environments at all, especially now that I was pregnant. My body was particularly sensitive, and I felt like my eardrums were about to burst.

I stopped walking as I did not want to take another step inside, but Nicholas had his arm around my shoulders.

He said mockingly, "The women in places like this are perfect for a brief encounter. I'll act quickly and get it over with. Then, you won't have to scheme with my father anymore!"
