Chapter 0281
“Ah! Do you know each other?” The director clapped his hands. He desperately tried to smooth things over as if he was oblivious to the awkward atmosphere.
“That’s great! Then I don’t need to make introductions. Mr. M us and Ms. Jones, you two have a good chat. I won’t disturb you!”
He nodded repeatedly and backed away. He was usually the big–shot TV director who threw his weight around at the station, but now, he looked like a submissive servant. He had been bowing ever since he entered the room.
I instantly regretted coming. I did want an opportunity to make a name for myself, but from the look of Marcus‘ face, he did not look like he was here to offer me a chance.
“Never mind,” I called out to the director. “I should be the one leaving. I have. nothing to discuss with him. Also, don’t contact me again. We’ll never collaborate again in the future!”
I glanced at Marcus and turned to leave. To my surprise, he grabbed my wrist. I instantly felt my feet leave the ground as Marcus pulled me into his
arms.
“Arianna, are you not even going to say hello to me?”
His deliberate and intimate gesture would make anyone misunderstand the situation. The director’s smile turned sleazy as he put on an understanding look. He then dashed out of the room without looking back.
Marcus released me as soon as the door closed before pushing me away. He even brushed off his clothes as if touching me had dirtied his jacket.
Frowning, he sniffed his jacket. He then took it off and threw it in the trash.
I sneered. “If you don’t like how I smell, why did you get so close? Weren’t you asking for it?”
Marcus paused and looked up at me. For a moment, his ice–cold gaze scared me a little.
