Pete raised his hand, vowing in a way that was both playful and endearing. I ignored his attempts to be cute and shook my head. I didn't want him to regret his decision later.
"How about five days?" he asked.
I stayed silent.
"Three days, but not a day less, Ari." He became serious.
"No matter what you say, I can't let you swallow this anger on your own. So, stop trying to persuade me. I've set my heart on you. If I can't even protect you, what kind of man am I?"
All the words I wanted to say got stuck in my throat, blocked by the determination in his eyes. All I could ask was, "What are you planning to do?"
"You don't need to know, but I guarantee it'll make him regret it!" Pete's expression turned fierce. "I need my dad to realize that losing me would be a huge loss. His eldest son isn't invincible!"
"You won't go too far, will you?" My face turned pale in the video, afraid Pete might do something reckless.
"It's my brother and my dad. No one's getting hurt. They'll just lose some money."
"Alright. As long as you know your limits."
"Alright then. I'll transfer some money to you later. If you see any furniture you like in Lexton City, just buy it and have it sent to the house.
"We can figure out the arrangements when I get there. From now on, I'll handle all the heavy tasks at home. I can't let my sweetheart tire herself out."
The term "sweetheart" caught me off guard, and I touched my cheek, feeling a bit flustered. "What are you talking about?"
"I'm talking about you, my sweetheart!" Pete winked mischievously.
Hearing Pete call me "sweetheart" over and over made me a bit embarrassed. However, the anxiety I had been feeling for days finally began to fade under his influence.
I scoffed and ended the call.
As I thought about it, I realized Yasmine had been out of town for quite some time. Tomorrow was the day she was supposed to return to Radiant City.
I left a message for Douglas, telling him to report to Yasmine at Jay Caldwell & Co. in Radiant City after the celebration banquet ended.
I also sent Yasmine a message, telling her that I planned to settle down with Pete in Lexton City.
I had expected her to call me immediately, complaining that I had a new boyfriend and hadn't told her right away. But after waiting a long time, she still hadn't replied.
I couldn't help but feel worried. Assuming she was busy, I left her another message, asking her to help arrange some work for Douglas. I told her that once I was settled in Lexton City, I would bring him over.
Not wanting to stay alone in the dark hotel room, I booked a train ticket to Lexton City that very night.

What the hell??? The lead character's train of thought and reasoning is too annoying for a successful and brilliant lawyer. WTF....
The leads were supposed to be successful in their fields, but were presented as stupid. So unbearable....
