Chapter 0367
Last night, Nicholas and I returned to Coral Villa.
When Yasmine found out, she scolded me and asked if I was crazy. “You’re going back there when you should be avoiding that scheming stepsister of his? She can be dangerous when she loses it!”
I smiled. But where else could I go? Our new house with Nicholas was now a place I would never set foot
in again.
“Claudia even called me ‘sister–in–law‘ for the first time. Isn’t that funny?” I said lightly.
Nicholas had grown used to clinging to me in bed early each night, but he came to our room very late after returning to Coral Villa. Clearly, they both had an enjoyable time yesterday as they were deep in pleasant conversation.
Thinking back to what happened last night’s scene, I remembered how Nicholas had been upset about my sudden departure. But the next moment, he smiled when he heard I wanted to move back to Coral Villa.
He stroked my head, sighing. “You’ve finally learned to care for your husband.”
At that moment I realized that my desire to separate him from Claudia had apparently been uncaring toward him. In his words, he had indulged my willingness by moving to the new house with me because he wanted to pamper me.
I felt cold all over. This kind of pampering was more than I could bear.
I was still hugging him at the time. After hearing him say that, the indescribable suffocating feeling suddenly vanished. Perhaps after a brief sweetness, what would follow was not doubled pain, but complete withdrawal.
Yasmine stared at me as if she was looking at an idiot, shrugged, pretending to be nonchalant. “Actually, he’s sick. It’s good to have someone else care for him. Otherwise, he’s always clinging to me, and I have no time to work.”
Perhaps I was too used to pretending to be strong. I could not let my guard down even in front of a friend. It would be too embarrassing.
Yasmine was not interested in Nicholas’s affairs. She just commented, “Oh, he deserves it!”
Yasmine frowned, “You’re still avoiding them? You can’t even go back to your own home. What does Nicholas take you for?”
I was startled. I quickly hugged her. “Yasmine, what happened to you wasn’t just an accident. If it wasn’t you, it would have been someone else. He was determined to get me back. You don’t know how -meticulous and calculating he is.
“So, please don’t blame yourself. I don’t know if I should believe in fate, but I’ll have to stay entangled with him for a while longer.”
