Trouble in Paradise (Arianna and Nicholas) novel Chapter 547

I was a bit lost. What did Nicholas mean by saying all of this? But no matter what, I just wanted to leave. Staying here felt suffocating.

I turned to leave, only to hear the hurried, bare footsteps behind me. Each step was urgent, closing in fast.

The night felt too emotional, not the right time for suggestive words. Who knew how much physical desire was mixed in with those supposed expressions of love?

We were both adults. In moments like these, we would know that words like those couldn't be trusted.

When he pinned me against the door, I looked up and glared at him, but Nicholas seemed even more aggrieved.

He'd moved too fast, his pale face trying to mask his frustration. "Am I so unattractive to you?"

Looking at him, I sneered. "Nicholas, I don't get it. When did I become so important to you?"

"You've always been important!" he replied, firm and unwavering.

I smiled dryly. Since he said so, I just listened as it was. "Fine. I get it. Can you let me go now?"

He was like a massive black hole, so forceful that it felt like he wanted to swallow everything about me. I instinctively resisted. But I was too tired to fight back, my gaze blurring.

Suddenly, his hands cupped my face. "Ariana, look at me. Isn't my love obvious?"

Love? It was pitiful to say, but I hadn't felt love for a long time.

Pete said he loved me, but he'd once abandoned me for someone else. He said he loved me, but he also deceived me.
