Trouble in Paradise (Arianna and Nicholas) novel Chapter 627

I swiftly pressed my palm against Nicholas' forehead, silently confronting him.

The skin he'd kissed still burned, and his gaze felt like molten lava. Just meeting his eyes sent waves of heat coursing through me, leaving my blood trembling and roiling.

The hospital's air conditioning was top-notch, but my palm was still clammy. If this kept up, I wouldn't be able to face anyone once we stepped outside.

"Nicholas, let me up!" I raised an eyebrow, trying to act indifferent.

His Adam's apple bobbed, clearly not wanting to answer me. Perhaps my gaze was too determined. He finally gave in, lowering his head and burying it in my neck.

His hot, damp, breath brushed my ear, and his body shifted restlessly. His voice trembled with restraint. "Ariana, I promise I won't go all the way."

He felt feverish, his body warmer than usual. Being close to him was like being near a furnace, and I felt the heat spread through my own body.

It was the first time I'd seen him like this since we got married. Back then, he wasn't keen on such things. No matter how much I tried to tease him, he always maintained his sense of propriety.

Every day, watching him move around the house, his every gesture and action radiated restraint.

Even later, when we became more intimate, he never compromised his principles. Instead, he made every effort to ensure we both enjoyed ourselves.

But now, seeing him with his eyes shut and his face flushed, no one would guess that Nicholas, of all people, could feel so vulnerable in such matters.

I felt a cool touch on my fingertips, and it snapped me back to my senses.

Nicholas guided my hand to his belt. "Help me, okay?"

His voice sent a shiver down my spine, and I struggled to maintain control.

"Nicholas, we're divorced. Divorced people don't do this kind of thing."

"What kind of thing?"

Behind me, Nicholas chuckled softly. "So you're admitting I'm your husband now?"

Why did I feel like he was deliberately leading me into a trap?

The sounds behind me grew bolder. Nicholas' breathing grew heavier.

I gritted my teeth and quickly said, "Stop messing around. I'll wait outside for you."

Nicholas' voice bubbled as if it was filled with soap. "Don't go. Just let me look at your back."
