Maria instantly felt guilty and impatient after being exposed.
She couldn't help but think of Liam.
She thought about the fact that she came to study in the UK for the sake of her love for Liam. She abandoned her entire family to come to London. She had been secretly in love with him, but what could she do?
Four years had passed, but nothing changed.
She felt a heaviness in her chest, which was painful and suffocating. It was as if someone had dropped a stone on her chest, preventing her from breathing properly.
Maria wanted to admit it, but she didn't have the right to.
Liam couldn't even remember what her last name was.
All of this was just her wishful thinking. Having a crush on an idol was a sad and depressing thing in the first place.
Now, she was slightly calmer. Although the sharp pain was still there, she believed that the pain would make her stronger.
She couldn't bow down so easily.
After a slight pause, Maria immediately smiled, "Gary, your imagination is wild, but please don't think too much. We're going downstairs, and Ernest is there as well. It's time to go, Celeste."
After saying that, Maria grabbed Celeste's arm and walked out first.
Behind them, Gary narrowed his eyes and looked at them. He did not stop them from leaving.
When they went downstairs together, the butler immediately asked someone to bring them some fruits and snacks.
Maria went downstairs while holding onto Celeste's arm and saw that Ernest was still meditating. He must have heard the footsteps, but he chose to ignore them and play dumb. She couldn't help but shout at him.
"Wake up, Ernest."
As soon as Maria shouted, Ernest opened his eyes.
Behind him, Gary let out a soft laugh and chimed in, "Yes, it's time for Ernest to wake up. Meditating is good, but it's for the elderly. Am I right, Maria?"
Maria turned around to look at Gary. She curled her lips and said, "Gary, I wonder who came back with a stormy face around two days ago, and has been treating everyone angrily as though we all owed him several hundred bucks. It's so surprising that he suddenly changed his mind this afternoon."
Gary didn't take her seriously and sat down on the sofa.
Celeste couldn't help but laugh. It seemed like Gary hadn't been happy at all for the past two days. Apparently, he'd been so straight-laced and downcast that everyone noticed.
She stole a glance at Gary. Coincidentally, he was also looking at her.
Their gazes met in midair.
Celeste immediately withdrew her gaze with a smile on her lips.
"Why are you suddenly happy?" Maria looked at Gary.
Gary also turned to look at Maria and shot back, "Who are you talking about?"
"Haha!"
Maria couldn't help but laugh.
Celeste was also stunned. It was amazing that this man could act as if he didn't understand anything.
Ernest didn't say anything, nor did he continue to meditate. He just looked at Celeste and then at Gary. His face was calm as he listened silently to their conversation.
"Gary, if it wasn't you, who could it be?" Maria knew that Gary wouldn't admit it. She intentionally teased him, "I think we found that you came home with a glum expression? We haven't met for so many years, yet you choose to be so mean the moment you return? You're horrible!"
Gary refused to entertain her.
"Am I right?" Maria looked at Celeste and used the topic to drag her into the conversation.
