Grace Smith was stunned for a moment. She didn't move or defend herself. All she did was look down at Marry Smith and watched her charade.
Alice Smith yelled, "What did you say? Who made you fall? We're already leaving and you're blaming us although you clearly tripped yourself?"
"My stomach hurts so much." Marry murmured in a very painful tone. "Simon, our child... it's so painful."
She held her stomach and looked like she was really suffering.
Initially, Simon Brown only squatted down to check her. However, before he spoke, he looked up at Grace upon seeing that Marry was in so much pain.
Grace's eyes froze for a second. When she met Simon's gaze, she was slightly stunned as she sensed the suspicion in his eyes.
At that moment, Grace thought that it was funny.
All Marry had to do to win Simon back was to pretend to be weak, and he would ignore justice and morality.
The next second, he said in a voice full of blame, "Grace, no matter how much you hate her, you shouldn't have attacked her. She is a pregnant woman."
That sentence and that suspicious glance caused Grace to chuckle helplessly.
It was humiliating.
She felt like she was being mocked.
It was an insult to her character.
"Simon," Alice was furious and shouted. "Are you out of your mind? How could you think that we are at fault?"
"I didn't suspect you, I suspect Grace," he retorted while looking at Grace.
Grace burst into laughter again. Although she laughed, she felt sad.
The mood was indescribable.
She looked at Simon and he was smiling with a depressed and cold expression.
"My sister didn't do it," Alice said righteously. "She didn't do anything. We turned around as we were already leaving. As a pregnant woman, not only did she not protect herself, but actually insisted on stopping us!"
"The child in her womb is innocent," Simon said sternly. "You can't trample over people's lives like this."
"This is slanderous," Alice pointed at Marry and shouted. "Simon, did you witness anything? Because I was next to her, I can vouch for her. By now, don't you know what kind of person Marry is?"
"Of course you'd cover for Grace," Simon said sternly. "But this is my child. The child is innocent."
"You're really..." Alice was so frustrated that she almost passed out. Her brain was buzzing with pain. She had never seen such a shameless person. How could he be so outrageous? "It's her karma. If she didn't do anything wrong, she doesn't have to worry. This is your karma."
Grace grabbed Alice's wrist and hinted for her to stop speaking.
Alice was young and couldn't control her anger. But at that moment, she was calm. The truth would speak for itself.
Grace looked at Simon without much emotion.
She enunciated, "Simon, I had nothing to do with it."
"Of course you won't admit it," Simon said.
"I'm in pain-" Marry shouted again.
"Marry, I'll take you to the hospital,” Simon said.
"Don't worry. I won't let them go so easily."
Grace smiled helplessly again. "Simon, don't you think it's ridiculous that a pregnant woman would climb a mountain in a pair of high heels? I had already turned around and was about to leave. It's none of my business that she fell to the ground."
