It was worth it. The stars in the sky were bright and dazzling, the sight was extremely beautiful.
The stars were lighted up the night sky. Their dazzling glow illuminated the sky like a lamp that could move along. Anyone who looked at it would feel immensely happy.
A building could be seen on the large flat mountaintop.
It was a large observatory that was carved out of white marble. In the summer, many people went there to stargaze.
However, there wasn't anyone else around at the moment because it was winter.
Even if there were other people, most of them would drive up there then stay in their cars to watch the stars.
The four of them were the only guests in the pitch dark area.
The whole area was quiet, the forest eerily silent.
The bright lights below the mountain were far away from them, tiny neon lights down below flashing intermittently.
Combined with the winking stars in the sky, the whole scenery gave off a unique kind of beauty.
Both women stood beside their boyfriends.
Leah was leaning against Ernest as she looked at the stars in the sky.
They turned off their flashlights and enjoyed that moment of peace.
Gary stretched out his hand to hug Celeste's shoulders, gently guiding her to the observatory.
They silently walked to the observation platform on the other side.
Ernest glanced at the couple that left then reached out to grab Leah's shoulder without batting an eyelash.
Leah looked to the retreating couple. She said in a suspicious and surprised voice, "Hey? Why did they leave?"
After she asked that silly question, she almost smacked herself.
At that moment, they needed some private space.
Gary left with Celeste, giving Ernest some private space too.
It was something that the two couples would benefit from.
She could not help but shake her head and laugh, she whispered, "I think I might be a fool."
"Have you only realized this now?" Ernest laughed, then he looked in the direction where his brother had left. The two of them were far away from each other, so they could not hear each other's voices.
Gary must have deliberately given him that much space. So they would not bother each other. However, they could still hear each other if they yelled.
If either of them met with an emergency, they would be able to take care of each other.
He was very satisfied with how clever his brother was.
As Leah was being held by Ernest, she sniffed and muttered, "Are you dissatisfied with me?"
Ernest embraced her more, "How could I be? No matter what happens to you, I will still like you."
His words were really pleasing to the ear.
Leah was very surprised at how sweet Ernest's words were.
Leah's heart skipped a beat and felt a surge of sweetness in her heart.
Leah continued to sniff as she was in Ernest's embrace.
It was so cold!
The mountain top was quite cold, especially so on a winter night.
She had just climbed up a mountain and was sweating all over. Now that she was standing still at the top of the mountain and surrounded by a large and empty space, she started to feel cold from the wind.
After staying idle for a little while, Leah shivered.
"Are you cold?" Ernest immediately asked in concern.
Leah nodded. "A little. If I stop moving, I will feel a chill from the wind.
"I know a way to keep you warm," Ernest said.
Leah was taken aback. "What is it? Are you going to start a fire here? Are we going to have a barbecue around the fireplace?"
When Ernest heard that, he could not help but laugh in a low voice as if he heard a joke. It sounded like he was making fun of her!
Leah looked up, her face was filled with confusion. Even though she was teased, her face was still hot.
She poked his chest with her finger. "What's so funny? I don't get it."
"You're silly." Ernest laughed again. He lowered his handsome face, pressed his head against Leah's forehead first, then pressed his lips against hers.
Leah was stunned. In that instant, she understood.
So that was a reason why he thought that she was silly.
It was only then that Leah understood what Ernest meant by knowing how to warm her up.
Just as she was in a state of shock, Ernest's lips pressed down against hers harder.
Leah felt a jolt of light flash in her mind.
All of her thoughts were frozen.
