In Boston.
After Lowell hung up the call, he frowned and looked towards the direction of the bathroom in the ward.
At that moment, a slender figure came out from inside. She looked at Lowell, and her lips twitched.
Lowell's eyes were sharp and cold. He glanced at Janice's face expressionless.
"Come on, you don't have to treat me so coldly." Janice smiled. She did not mind Lowell looking at her like that. "We are not enemies, are we?"
Lowell's eyes were calm, he said nothing. All he did was staring at Janice with a pair of cold eyes, as if he was looking at a stranger.
Janice smiled again, and she walked to the side of the bed. Then, she continued, "We used to be very good friends after all. Anyway, now that I am pregnant with Gary's child, I do not think that our relationship should be this cold."
"Janice, I should advise you to not be so sure of yourself," Lowell warned, "We can't be sure that the child belongs to Gary just based on your words alone. We need to wait until he arrives to be able to confirm it."
"You don't have to worry about this. Gary had no suspicions, did he?" Janice smiled confidently. "Isn't he coming right after he received the phone call?"
Lowell sneered and asked, "Who told you that he was coming after receiving the call?"
"You see, you are still the same. I have heard you making the phone call." Janice did not hide that she eavesdropped on Lowell's call, and her intention was clear.
Lowell sneered again and he squinted at Janice. "You are just using me."
Janice chuckled and said, "Don't make it sound so bad. I have no choice but to do this for the sake of my child. Lowell, don't be angry. After all, this child would be related to you too, right?"
"It's better to end a child's life before it is born, rather than to let it be shunned if it's to be born. This way, it would not be so painful for the child." Lowell took a step forward as he looked at Janice. "What do you think?"
Janice was stunned when she suddenly felt Lowell's murderous stare.
She could not believe that there would be such a sharp gaze coming from Lowell. His eyes were ever so cold.
At that instant, his temperament was extremely dominating.
Janice was shocked by that.
Her expressions were stiff, she pursed her lips and forced a smile to cover up the embarrassment and awkwardness she felt, as well as the panic in her heart.
"Lo... Lowell," Janice called his name in a low voice. "Don't be so scary. I'm scared."
"You'd best be scared." Lowell snorted, as if he did not believe that Janice would react that way.
That woman had too many tricks up her sleeve, and her methods were not of the ordinary ones either. She was scheming enough to plot against Gary, and that alone was enough to prove how detestable she was.
Lowell was emotionless when he was facing a woman like her.
At that moment, when he looked at Janice's bright and beautiful face, he was once again reminded of her ugly tactics. He sneered again.
He had finally seen that woman's true colors.
Now that he knew what she was really like, he would never think about her ever again.
From then on, it would be a real closure for him towards her.
However, what about Gary?
He was schemed by tats snake-like woman and lost so badly then. What were Celeste and Gary going to do about that?
In the end, Lowell was still most worried about Gary.
"I am pregnant, and I'm trying to take good care of the child in my womb now. Don't you think that you would scare the child to death like this? What if you are the one who caused the misfortune?" Janice immediately added, "Gary wouldn't even have a chance to do a paternity test, right?"
Lowell sneered. "If it's gone, then all of this can end once and for all."
"However, I'm afraid that Gary won't be able to let that slide." Janice tried her best to calm herself down. She looked at Lowell and said word by word, "I know that you're in favor of Celeste. I also know that Gary doesn't like me. Yet, that night, when Gary was drunk, he was indeed with me."
"You shameless woman." Lowell sneered. "Who knows what kind of sly tactic you used?"
"What kind of tactic do I need to use against a man who has just failed in his relationship?" Janice laughed and said, "It is an undeniable fact that Gary used to have feelings for me. Even if he didn't feelings as strong as what he has for Celeste towards me, he used to like me."
"That's you thinking too highly of yourself," Lowell interrupted her narcissism. "He used to treat you with kindness because you were my friend. Do you really think that he had feelings for you?"
