Heinz was stunned. That's true. Although Mr. Yarbrough wanted Grace to follow his surname, he knew he had not done much for her, not even the basics, so Mr. Yarbrough never pressured her to do so.
However, this did not mean that Mr. Yarbrough did not wish she would do so.
Few men could tolerate their children not having the same surname as them.
It was a common, shared feeling.
Although Mr. Yarbrough said he did not care, he must wish for it so much. It was the same for all men.
Hearing Grace's words, Heinz could only sigh and say nothing more.
Because he was still young, Lowell blurted out, "But I think Mr. Yarbrough wants it. He would be happy to know that you've changed your surname."
Grace looked at Heinz and noticed that he was holding back.
When Lowell said those words, Heinz nodded.
Grace frowned.
Heinz was only being considerate because she was pregnant.
Moreso, she was pregnant with twins.
He couldn't afford to upset her.
"So you agree with Lowell?" Grace asked as she glared at Heinz.
Heinz chuckled, "I'm the most qualified to say this. You see, I was so happy to see that Gary has changed his surname. I felt like I was on cloud nine, and I've never felt so delighted."
"You've never been so delighted?" Grace asked with her eyebrow raised.
Oops! Heinz's heart skipped a beat.
"Of course not. I was exaggerating a little." He didn't want to upset her.
"It seems that you weren't so happy when we got married." Grace said coldly, "What a narrowminded person you are."
Heinz's lips twitched from being mocked. "This has nothing to do with that. This is human nature, after all."
Grace continued to glare at him, not saying a word.
Heinz was embarrassed. He turned to Lowell and said, "Lowell, don't you agree?"
Lowell could tell that Grace was mad, so he let out an awkward smile.
It seemed like they were going to quarrel. Lowell felt that he should leave the scene. If he remained there, Heinz would be too embarrassed to apologize and coax Grace. If he left, Heinz would be able to handle the situation.
With that, Lowell decided to leave.
He said to them, "I think you should respect Grace's wish. I have had my fill, and I have to go back to my research. You two can enjoy your meal."
"Sure, go ahead." Grace said, "Good luck."
"Alright." Lowell nodded. "I'm be heading upstairs."
Grace nodded.
Lowell ran away and disappeared upstairs.
Heinz and Grace were the only ones left in the dining area downstairs.
Their eyes met as she stared at him with a sharp gaze.
"I can't believe it! You're such a selfish person," mocked Grace.
"How am I selfish?" Heinz felt like he had been wronged.
"You're taking advantage of the situation," she explained.
He was stunned and immediately understood what she meant.
She was saying that their son was in trouble and he was taking advantage of the opportunity.
But he had been wanting to tell her about it. It was inevitable.
So what if he was selfish? At least Gary was now a Jones.
Heinz smiled and said, "I've finally found the perfect chance to do so. Could you please stop mocking me? I wouldn't force you if you didn't want to."
"I was right." Grace snorted. "Selfish as ever. You only care about yourself."
