"What about the deal?" Looking at the excited Claudia, Ernest was curious about her background, wondering how she could still be in high spirits after losing. She even admitted her defeat without hesitation. It was all out of his expectations.
She nodded. "It's still valid, of course. I'm someone of my word."
As she spoke, she gestured toward the apartment, indicating for them to follow her.
Then, she walked straight toward the apartment.
At the same time, Gary and Kendrix were glaring at each other. Both of them looked at Claudia, then at Ernest and Sebastian.
Kendrix said unhappily, "Where are you going?"
Claudia replied impatiently, "Washroom."
"Then why ask Ernest and Sebastian to go with you?" he asked.
"They wanted to use the washroom too," she answered as she shot a sidelong glance at Ernest and Sebastion, urging them to play along.
Neither of them spoke nor looked at Kendrix.
Kendrix frowned.
Claudia paid no attention to Kendrix. She ignored him and walked away.
Ernest and Sebastian ignored Kendrix and followed behind her as if they were going to use the washroom.
The three of them left just like that.
A smug smile appeared on Gary's face. He looked at Kendrix and pointed in the direction where the other three had gone. "Did you see that? She doesn't look like she's on your side."
Kendrix's face darkened.
On the contrary, the smile on Gary's scarred face widened.
It was apparent that Kendrix was upset. He looked at Gary frostily.
Upon seeing Kendrix's expression, Gary chuckled. "Even if you're angry, it won't help. If I'm not mistaken, your fake girlfriend should have already revealed your secret."
Kendrix was not angry at Gary's words. Instead, he smirked in response.
"Is this fun for you?"
"Yes, it is. Especially after breaking into a sweat from that fight," Gary said.
Without saying a word, Kendrix left.
"What a coward. How could you leave before anything is resolved?" Gary muttered.
However, Kendrix heard him and stopped in his tracks. He turned to look at Gary closely for some time before saying, "You can't even keep your girlfriend, so you have no right to judge me."
Gary was stunned, and his smug smile froze on his face.
His face fell when Kendrix brought up Celeste. His heart was filled with pain and regret. It suddenly felt difficult to breathe as if someone had sucked all the air around him.
That time, Gary did not stop him. "My sister is just like us. She's rather stubborn. If she takes a liking to something or someone, she'll do her best to show her feelings. You won't be able to escape."
Kendrix's body stiffened, but he did not stop walking.
Meanwhile, Claudia, Ernest, and Sebastian were on the other side of the apartment. They stood under the moonlight as if they were having an illegal gathering.
Ernest was impatient. "What's going on? Can't you tell us now?"
"It's simple." Claudia looked at them before continuing, "Kendrix asked me to act as his girlfriend. But please don't misunderstand. I have no interest in him. We grew up together, and our parents want us to get married. Technically, we're engaged, but we have no intentions of getting married."
Ernest raised his eyebrows, a little surprised. "Are you really engaged to him?"
"I'm not lying," she replied truthfully.
Ernest frowned as he sized her up.
If Claudia was indeed engaged to Kendrix, then Sylvia was the one being the third wheel.
That was not good news.
Ernest's handsome face darkened.
Sebastian looked at Ernest worriedly, then at Claudia. "Mr. Trevino is an outstanding person, so why aren't you interested in him? Is he not your type?"
"I'm more interested in you," Claudia replied smoothly as she looked at Sebastian with a bright smile. "I like men like you. You're energetic, young, handsome, and have a nice physique. You're so much better, so why don't I make you mine? We can be together after Kendrix and I call off the engagement."
