True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) novel Chapter 2177

There was a keen nip in the air outside, but it was warm inside. Kendrix wore a v-neck white long-sleeved T-shirt, which highlighted his angular and striking features, making him a sight for sore eyes.

That was what came into her sight when Sylvia answered the video call.

His hair was still slightly ruffled with a few strands hanging loose on his forehead as he just came out of the shower, making him look even sexier.

The white T-shirt gave a clean and clear look to his face. Coupled with his fine skin, he was stunning.

It only took one glance for Sylvia to be bowled over.

She felt that she had turned into his fangirl, gawking at him through the phone, nearly drooling.

After coming to her senses, Sylvia couldn't believe what she had just done. Fortunately, she didn't stare at him for too long, or things would get embarrassing.

Nonetheless, Kendrix was no ordinary man; he could effortlessly capture even the most minute details.

Naturally, he did not miss Sylvia's adorable gawking at that very moment.

He fixed his gaze on the girl in the video with all smiles beneath his eyes.

It seemed that she had just showered too, probably during his car ride.

"Are you studying?" Kendrix went straight to the point.

Sylvia picked up the book in her hand and put it under the camera for Kendrix to see. "Of course I am. I'm preparing for upcoming lessons. I can grasp the points here, so you don't have to worry. I just didn't put all my attention into my studies in the past, but I'm more behaved now, so my grades won't drop. Don't worry."

She had only repeatedly pointed out her studies wouldn't be affected so that everybody knew she was aware of what she should do and reassured them.

"Good." Kendrix was relieved to see she listened. At least, she knew what she had to do. He also knew she was bright; her future would be boundless if she put it to good use.

"Are you cold?" Sylvia asked with concern when she saw that he only wore a thin layer.

Unexpectedly, as she inquired, Kendrix went pink, and his expression became slightly unnatural. It seemed that he was even disconcerted for a moment, but he concealed it in a split second and cleared his throat. "I'm not."

"You're wearing too little for this weather." Sylvia muttered determinedly, "I know you have the heater running; you should still be careful and not catch a cold. It's winter, after all."

Kendrix was now soberer after a shower though still a little dizzy.

He had always been strict with himself, and it got him annoyed that he lost control earlier, but also glad.

He still rushed to things in the end, losing his patience when he thought he was losing his chances if he continued to wait until Sylvia came of age.

But now, focusing his eyes on the girl's sweet smile, his heart softened into mush.

"I won't catch a cold. Don't worry." Although he really wanted to keep looking at his girl, he knew she needed to study. "Two minutes, and well end the call."

"Only two minutes?" There was an undisguised tone of disappointment in Sylvia's voice. "Can't we talk a little more? It's New Year's, and you've just become my boyfriend; I want to talk to you for a while longer."

Gentle helplessness filled Kendrix's eyes as he looked at the girl in the phone. "It's getting late; you should go to bed early and get up early the next morning."

"But, I'm not sleepy." Sylvia behaved rascally, intending to have a longer conversation with Kendrix.

Having just confirmed their relationship, she was still in high spirits; there was no way she'd end the conversations so early.

"You still have to sleep even if you can't, or you can choose to study," Kendrix said gravely.

Sylvia pouted as she looked at his handsome and perfect face, saying reluctantly, "It's just a call, yet you're so serious. Has Jack Frost gotten you again?"

Stumped, Kendrix frowned. "What Jack Frost?"

"Don't tell me you don't know that." Sylvia naturally didn't believe he didn't get what she was saying.

Kendrix stared at her, his gaze fathomless. "One minute has passed. One minute left."

"You're so stern. It's already so late, and I'm about to go to bed. I'll have nightmares if you scare me like that. If I have nightmares, it'll affect my sleep, and if my sleep is affected, it'll affect my studies, you know?"

So no matter what Kendrix said, Sylvia had ways to justify herself.

"Forty seconds left," Kendrix reminded.

Sylvia blinked. "You can't be serious. It's New Year's, can't you let yourself loose for this once? Why do you always live such a serious and dull life? I'm aware of your capacity to control yourself, but I can't do the same. I will miss you."

She blushed after saying that.

She looked absolutely adorable with her rosy cheeks.

The screen did nothing to stop Kendrix from sensing her great complexion.

She radiated such effervescence, just like an angel from the heavens. Apart from being adorable and pretty, there was a touch of impishness within her, making her look bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

"Don't you miss me?" Sylvia pressed when she detected his silence.

But Kendrix opened his mouth only to say, "Ten seconds."

Stumped, Sylvia now knew Kendrix meant it.

She was very disheartened.

However, she wasn't too bothered as Kendrix had worn his heart on his sleeves that day.

She beamed at him. "I know; five seconds. I'm hanging up. Good night, Kendrix."

With that, she ended their call.

Kendrix was rendered stump when the girl's cute and lively expression disappeared from his phone.
