"Don't flatter me, Officer Charm. I enjoy being carefree." Tyler was not taking himself seriously.
Jensen smiled and said, "You're too modest, Mr. Henley. By the way, how did you know Grace?"
Tyler noticed that he was asking about Grace specifically and not the Smith family as a whole.
He raised his eyebrows and looked into Jensen's eyes intensely, his eyes sparkling. "I've known Grace for many years. The circumstances in which we met were like scenes in a novel. Only Grace and I know the feeling. It was complicated."
Jensen was bewildered. The glow in Tyler's eyes made him realize that Tyler seemed to be on his guard.
He smiled slightly and said, "It must have been exceptional. I can see that Alice and Little Gary like you very much."
"Well, we've been relying on each other for all these years," Tyler said with a smile. "We have deep connections."
Jensen's heart nearly missed a bit.
Could he be Heinz's competitor? A romantic rival?
That was the last thing Jensen wanted to happen.
He had always felt that for the sake of Little Gary, Grace and Heinz would overcome the hurdles and be together sooner or later. That would be great for Heinz and Little Gary, and even for Jensen himself.
But now, Tyler had showed up out of nowhere. Jensen felt a sense of crisis.
He assumed that Heinz had not known about it yet.
Still having mixed feelings, Jensen faked a smile and said, "I can see that you're really close to each other." "Officer Charm, you're jealous, aren't you?" Tyler crossed his legs lazily and fixed his gaze on Jensen's.
Jensen was stumped for a moment. Then, he smiled and said, "I'm indeed a little jealous."
As a police officer, Jensen had encountered all kinds of people. He could tell that there was a reason behind every question asked.
He continued frankly, "You've seen how Alice treated me, but she's very respectful and loving to you. As her boyfriend, it's normal that I feel uncomfortable about that."
"Haha," Tyler began to laugh. An enigmatic smile spread across his handsome face. "Are you really jealous of this?"
"Yes." Jensen was still being doubtful. He felt that Tyler was implying something else. "If not, what could it be, Mr. Henley?"
Tyler did not respond to his question and continued, "That is how Alice is. She is just hard on the outside but soft on the inside. You will slowly understand her. The sisters are really good people. It's your blessing to have Alice as your girlfriend."
Listening to his tone and what he had to say, Jensen felt that Tyler not only regarded Alice as his family, he also treated her as his precious daughter.
Tyler continued again, "Alice is like my little sister. I'm very concerned about her future. Officer Charm, you can't let Alice down."
Jensen was startled and felt awkward.
From the way Tyler had sounded, Jensen felt that he really thought of Alice as his real sister.
He was suspecting that his motive was to get on Grace's good side.
While talking to himself in his head, Jensen nodded at Tyler and said, "Of course, I won't let go of Alice. I know very well how good she is. I won't let her down." "That would be the best," Tyler said with a smile.
Meanwhile, Alice happened to come out of the kitchen and heard their conversation. She frowned and her cheeks turned pink unconsciously.
After pausing for a moment, she quickly turned around to return to the kitchen before Jensen could notice her.
But Jensen already caught sight of her.
Tyler did too. He raised his eyebrows and said to Jensen, "Alice heard it. This girl is so shy that she's hiding in the kitchen."
Jensen immediately lowered his voice and said, "She's a really shy girl. Mr. Henley, I think you shouldn't talk anymore."
Tyler looked at him and smiled faintly. "I can see that you really dote on her. I don't have to worry now."
