Grace Smith pursed her lips.
Encouraged by the sight of people pointing at Grace, Marry continued to insult her. Her voice became sharper as she talked, saying, "You can't live without a man, can you? Do you need a man that much? Do you have to seduce every man you see? Are you buying clothes to suck up to them?"
Grace remained silent.
Her silence was taken to mean tacit agreement by some.
Some believed that she was truly such a woman; one who couldn't survive without a man.
Grace frowned after she noticed the gazes of the onlookers. They seemed to stare more when she didn't deny the accusations.
''Are you not going to defend yourself?" Marry asked sarcastically, "Are you afraid of letting others know about your bad deeds? You even share indecent thoughts about your brother- in- law. Furthermore, you didn't even know who is the father of your illegitimate child, do you? Oh, you're such an unscrupulous woman!"
"Have you said enough?" Grace's gaze darkened as she spoke. She stared at Marry in cold silence.
"Oh my God, is this her sister?!"
"This woman looks so meek and quiet. How could she be someone who flirts with her brother-in-law?"
Nowadays, there are all kinds of women in this world. A brother-in-law is just another man to them."
"Yes!"
Everyone started to whisper out of a sudden.
Their voices were full of cynicism.
Grace took a deep breath.
Marry waited for the intensity of the whispering of the crowd to heighten before she sniggered, "What's wrong, my dear sister? I didn't even say anything when you tried to snatch my husband away. How could you speak in such a way to me now?"
Grace was speechless.
She looked at Marry and said coldly, "It seems that you have lost your confidence, Marry. I suppose Simon has really decided to leave you. Otherwise, why would you portray such a bad image of yourself and your husband in public?"
Grace spoke neither too fast nor too slow. Every word that she spoke was powerful and was heard by everyone.
The onlookers were clueless and confused by her words.
Marry's face turned pale instantly. She whispered, "You are the one who seduced my husband! He's your brother-in-law."
"You must be really sick," Grace said, looking at Marry indifferently, "How long has it been since I last met him? When have I ever gone to look for the both of you? You are the ones who would always come to me to cause trouble. If I had flirted with your husband, why would he need to look for me?"
Marry was shocked. She opened her mouth and tried to say something, but Grace had interrupted her before she could.
The pace of her words was just right. Her voice was soft but her words were powerful.
Her words had more impact than foul language.
Grace articulated each word clearly, saying, "And I noticed that you would accompany him whenever he came over. I thought that it was rather strange. What was your intention?"
"Besides, you said earlier that I couldn't survive without a man. Why should I bother looking for your husband then?"
"Do you think a second-hand man is worthy of me?"
"It's okay if you want to insult yourself, but don't insult me."
"Furthermore, if you continue to behave like this, I think you would only encourage Simon to leave you."
Marry shouted, "Shut up! How dare you curse me! You're evil."
"You are the one who provoked me when I'm busy shopping. I would never want to talk to someone who's so unreasonable," Grace said plainly.
"Shut up!" A glimpse of panic flashed in Marry's eyes. She couldn't stand it and shouted in a sharp voice, "You are the unreasonable one!"
"Since you think that I'm unreasonable, why don't you stay away from me then? " Grace replied calmly, "Why do you always follow me wherever I go?"
