Lawrence was terrible.
From his tone, and what he said, Timothy could naturally tell that he was full of jealousy and wicked thoughts.
"Are you trying to get an edge over me by saying these things? You're trying to hit my sore spot, and make me feel even more guilty for my daughter."
Lawrence raised his eyebrows. "Do you feel guilty for your daughter?"
"Of course I feel guilty," Timothy said in a low voice. "I'm not like you, who can do your children wrong and still act like it's something natural to the point where you hide it. I think you must feel guilty, and you are afraid of saying it in fear that they will hate you."
"No matter what, your daughter married my divorcee child. Your heart must hurt." Lawrence felt even cockier. It was as if he was happy about being able to one-up him.
"What's wrong with being a divorcee? It's not a big deal, as long as they love each other until they're old and grey. Don't think I'm a stubborn old man. I'm telling you, I'm not. As long as my daughter is happy, it doesn't matter who she marries. What's important is whether she is happy, and whether she can feel fulfilled."
"Your son is lucky to marry my daughter and give birth to two such wonderful grandsons. You should feel your ancestors smiling down on you."
"Oh, that's not it!"
"I'm afraid your ancestors haven't done anything virtuous. The ones who have been virtuous are Old Master Carter and his wife. If it wasn't for his virtuosity, how could he have two such smart and lovely great-grandsons?"
"As for you, you're irresponsible, and you've even come here to belittle me in an attempt to subdue me. Only someone with bare conscience would care this much."
Lawrence replied, "From the moment you refuted me, your conscience has been bare as well." He didn't compromise, and his eyes were still full of pride.
Timothy smiled lightly and reminded him, saying, "Let me remind you that you seem to have forgotten the purpose of you coming here. I don't have time to chat with you. I'm going to see my daughter and my two grandsons later, and I don't have much time to talk to you about such meaningless topics."
Lawrence was stunned. He had not seen those two children yet.
They were Lawrence's own grandsons.
Timothy wanted to show off in front of him, saying he was going to see the two children. Lawrence squinted his eyes and sneered, "Don't come at me with this!"
Timothy smiled slightly, and his attitude became even more arrogant.
Lawrence's voice was sharp, "Are you trying to pressure me with this? Trying to agitate me? The two children have already gone to school today. You won't be able to see them even if you want to."
Timothy narrowed his eyes. It seemed that Lawrence was keeping watch on Heinz and Grace. He really had all kinds of means.
Timothy was not angry. He only smiled faintly and said, "Then I'll go see my daughter, and wait there to have dinner. If I want to have dinner there, my daughter and son-in-law likely won't refuse me. On the other hand, if you want to do so, I'm afraid it wouldn't be that easy."
"You!" Lawrence frowned tightly and tried to calm himself down. "You're irritating me so much, and you still say that you're not trying to hit my sore spot?" "I am trying to hit your sore spot," Timothy confessed. "If your heart can still feel pain, you should know that what you've done has seriously hurt Grace and Heinz. You keep saying unnecessary things, but you can't admit your mistakes and take responsibility for what you have done. Didn't your parents teach you anything?"
