Chapter 141
He pushed Daphne off of him.
“Thank you, Xav,” She said gratefully before turning around to give Yvette a triumphant look.
Yvette was beginning to regret her decision to marry Xavier. She had realized that it was better if she hadn’t. If they hadn’t been married, he would have agreed to almost all of her
requests.
How fortunate that Daphne had claimed to be the one who had rescued Shanon.
Yvette’s expression was cold–she couldn’t care less about Daphne’s gloating.
Dewberry Manor was huge. There were plenty of guest rooms to choose from, yet Daphine picked the one that was closest to the master bedroom. Her intentions were as clear as day.
After Daphne left to unpack, Yvette was also about to return to her own room.
Sitting in the living room, Xavier called after her, “Come here.”
“What?” She walked over. She had no clue what he wanted.
He was observing her demeanor. After they had gotten married, she had specifically told him that Dewberry Manor was their home. Aside from friends and family members, no other woman was allowed to stay in the manor. He remembered that.
“You’re not mad?”
He had only agreed to let Daphne stay for two reasons. For one, he was afraid something. would actually happen to her. Two, he wanted to see how Yvette would react.
He refused to believe that she would be unfazed. However, she wasn’t behaving like he had thought she would.
“We had an agreement, didn’t we? We’re getting a divorce as soon as the debt is paid in full. So, why would I be mad?”
“I do hope you can continue to feel that way, said Xavier. He felt a lump in his throat. “I have other plans, so I won’t be home tonight,” he continued as he got up.
Daphne couldn’t believe this. After all the trouble she had gone through to stay in Dewberry Manor, Xavier wasn’t even going to be home She walked toward Yvette’s room and knocked
on the door.
Yvette wanted to continue working on her music–it was the only way to keep her from overthinking.
She didn’t think she’d be disturbed again. At this point, it seemed like she wouldn’t be able to get any work done today.

She got up and went to open the door.
It was in the middle of summer, but Yvette was dressed in a long–sleeved top and long pants. Daphne stared at her outfit and noticed the rash on her neck.
When Daphne had been sponsored by the Snyders, she had often dined with them at Snyder Residence. Once, Yvette had accidentally eaten some seafood and had the same symptoms.
“I’ve never seen someone so bubble–wrapped before,” she commented in a knowing manner. How does one have allergic reactions to seafood? How pampered were y
you? Did you think you could get Xav to like you by garnering sympathy?”
Yvette walked back into her room and sat down on a chair. She scoffed condescendingly before saying, “Aren’t you the one that’s trying to garner sympathy?”
Women knew each other best. Anyone could see through Daphne’s tricks.
She was a huge celebrity, and she should be experienced enough at this point. Had she not taken precautions against the intruder after the first incident?
Daphne wasn’t upset by Yvette’s accusation at all. Instead, her lips curved into a smile. That’s right, I am trying to earn his sympathy
She leaned toward Yvette and continued in a louder voice, “However, my acts actually get me Xav’s affection. What about you? Was he concerned about you after you disfigured yourself?”
Yvette didn’t respond.
Daphne continued, “I can’t understand why you insist on fighting over him. You might be lawfully married, but do you know what it’s like to be intimate with him?
“Do you know which side he likes to sleep on, or if he prefers the top or the bottom? I happen
to know.”
Yvette hadn’t thought that Daphne could be so blunt.
Her gaze was blank. Regarding that topic, she obviously didn’t know as much as Daphne did. However, she wasn’t interested anymore.
She didn’t care about what Xavier liked. She just wanted to bear a child and leave him as soon as possible.
Daphne was thrilled by Yvette’s loss for words.
On the other hand, Yvette was unfazed. “I’m assuming you have quite a sum of money saved up?” She asked calmly.
