Claude had the chef at Noble Gem Private Dining prepare Yvette’s favorite dishes. “You’ve lost weight.
You should eat more.”
“Okay.” Yvette picked up her cutlery. However, she didn’t have an appetite despite the table full of exquisite dishes before her.
She couldn’t help but ask, “By the way… What did you and Xavier talk about?”
Claude put some food on her plate. “Nothing much. It was about work.”
“Did Xavier make things difficult for you?” Yvette pressed on.
Claude paused, his eyes curving with a smile as he looked at her. “I’m not some little girl. How could he make things difficult for me?”
He was teasing her again.
Yvette noticed that Claude was always addressed politely by those around him, and he often appeared serious. But in front of her, it didn’t take long before he started joking, sometimes even like a child.
“I’m serious! You have to tell me if he makes things difficult for you,” Yvette insisted.
“Why would I? I’m a strong, independent man. How could I let you help me?”
Claude continued to give her food until her plate was full, then urged her to eat quickly.
Yvette had no choice but to start eating. As she lowered her head, Claude noticed that she was wearing a high–collar, long–sleeved shirt today. Although there was air conditioning indoors, the shirt wouldn’t be of much help in such hot weather.
“Have you been feeling unwell again recently?” he asked, knowing Yvette was sensitive to the cold.
Yvette noticed his gaze and awkwardly shook her head. “No. The air conditioning at the office is too high.”
“You can take a jacket next time. Wearing this must make your neck feel stuffy.”
Yvette hummed in response and lowered her head, not wanting him to see the marks on her skin.
Little did she know that Xavier was in another room, watching their every move through the surveillance footage.
He waved over a waitress and gave some instructions Shortly after, the waitress brought over a bottle of red wine to Yvette and Claude’s private dining room.
“Good day, sir, ma’am. This is a complimentary gift from our restaurant,” the waitress said. Without waiting for a response, he approached Yvette to pour the wine.
“There’s no need for that. We don’t drink.” Claude frowned. He knew that Yvette couldn’t control herself when she drank, so he never let her have alcohol when they went out together.
As soon as Claude said that, the waitress‘ hand trembled, and he accidentally spilled the entire glass of wine on Yvette.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry…” The waitress quickly grabbed some napkins to help Yvette clean up.

“It’s okay. I’ll do it myself.” Yvette hurriedly tried to clean up the mess.
As the wine had splashed onto her neck, the waitress tried to unbutton her collar to wipe it off.
Claude stood up and walked over to help, but his eyes fixed on the red marks on her slender neck. He quietly looked away and handed the waitress a card. “Go buy a new set of clothes.”
