Douglas believed he might not be able to compare with Bernard when it came to looks, but he wasn't ugly! He still had quite a few admirers! Would he still be single if it weren't for his busy work?
Forget it. As long as Bernard didn't treat him as a love rival and torture him, he would let him say whatever he wanted.
"Why did Hera only answer Douglas' call?" Johnson was confused.
Douglas felt Bernard's icy gaze shift from his phone to him and trembled. He explained, "She must have picked up accidentally. I swear nothing is going on between me and her..."
Before he could finish, his phone was taken away by Bernard. Thinking Bernard wanted to check his call history, he said, "Feel free to look through all my chat history."
Bernard rolled his eyes. Who had the time to go through his chat history?
Bernard huffed. "I'll keep this phone. Get a new one, and the expenses will be reimbursed."
This was his only way of contacting Hera.
Douglas was relieved that Bernard only wanted his phone. As long as Bernard didn't misunderstand, he would get as many new phones as Bernard wanted him to!
…
In the blink of an eye, it was the day of Linda's 50th birthday banquet.
Early in the morning, Hera received a call from Stephen. "Ms. Youngworth, we can go through with our plan today. We'll meet at the Imperial Hotel banquet hall at 10:00 am. Wait for my instructions."
He only mentioned the meeting place and time, not the invitation.
Everyone knew the Imperial Hotel was closed to the public today. It was impossible to enter without an invitation. Linda had not sent her an invitation either.
This was meant to embarrass Hera.
