"Oh, congratulations. I have another matter to attend to, so I should go now," Hera said indifferently and bypassed him, preparing to leave.
Hurt by her aloof attitude, Bernard quickly held her hand. "But it's a trap… I'll come with you."
He wanted to stop her, but he knew that she wouldn't listen very well.
Hera looked at his bandaged right hand, which was holding hers. A pang of guilt hit her.
She looked up at his handsome face. It would be a lie to say that she hadn't missed him after days of separation.
However, she didn't want to see him now, especially since he returned to the country to dissuade her from continuing her plan.
She withdrew her hand and coldly refused him, "Thanks, but no."
"Hera, you're here! I've been looking for you." The cheerful Thiago happened to come over. When he noticed Bernard behind Hera, his shoulders drooped as he assumed that she would stay by Bernard's side from now onward.
To his surprise, she walked toward him. "I had a call to take. Let's go."
He sensed that something was off, but he followed her happily regardless.
Bernard watched them leave side by side as his heart broke. Everything in him was screaming at him to catch up to them and bring Hera back.
"Bernie…"
Right then, Everly showed up from the staircase. She glanced at the corridor, the direction Hera had left in.
Bernard spared her a disdainful glance and left.
Bitterness and jealousy surged in Everly as she blamed fate for being this cruel to her.
Hera didn't love Bernard and even made use of his feelings for her, but he only had his eyes on her.
On the other hand, Everly loved him so much, but he chose to ignore her and give her the cold treatment.
In spite of that, Everly believed that he would be moved by her feelings one day as long as she didn't give up.
"Bernie, I have something important to tell you." She lifted the hem of her dress and scurried along the corridor to catch up with him. "I heard that there's going to be a blackout in the building later. Hera's afraid of the dark. You should remind her about it."
