Gemma was to be questioned in Interrogation Room 4, and Nathan was the lead interrogator.
Gemma wore a pale green dress and had neatly styled her hair into a bun at the back of her head. Although her hands were cuffed, she still held a cross pendant.
Having devoted herself to religion for a long time, Gemma had a presence that would put anyone at ease. She seemed at home even though she was sitting in an interrogation room.
If Nathan hadn't learned the truth about the case earlier, he would've actually been fooled by her demeanor.
"Ms. Gemma, do you know why we've brought all of you here?" Nathan asked.
"No matter what you're investigating, I'll fully cooperate with you," Gemma answered slowly.
"But I have a request. Can you let me be with Xavi? He's intellectually impaired, so he knows nothing. I'm afraid that he'll be frightened."
Gemma's tone was very soft and composed. She brought up her request so gently, making it hard for anyone to refuse.
"Captain Olson, is that allowed?" the assistant beside Nathan couldn't help but ask in a low voice.
Nathan answered with a question of his own, "Aren't you worried about your biological daughter? I noticed how terrified she was on the way here."
"Xandia's an adult and can handle herself, but Xavi is different. He hasn't fully recovered and is intellectually impaired. I'm more worried about him," Gemma gently remarked while looking at the pendant in her hand.
The assistant, who spoke up for Gemma earlier, was suddenly at a loss for words. He also noticed how startled Xandia was while being brought over. On the other hand, Xavier was extremely energetic.
Even if Xavier was intellectually impaired, he was still a healthy man. On the other hand, Xandia was just a delicate young woman. The assistant wondered if Gemma was overreacting.
