Dora pulled a nearby chair and stood on it, finally reaching Bernard's eye level. She even gained a bit of height over him.
Bernard thought she was there to invite him to lunch as Douglas said. He was about to say he was hungry when Dora continued, "This is Mommy's newest invention. It's said to prevent hair loss. Do you want to try it?"
Dora pulled out four tiny herb balls wrapped in paper from her pocket and offered them to Bernard.
Bernard was confused. Weren't they supposed to invite him to lunch? What was this about hair-loss prevention? What on earth were these balls? Did she think he needed them?
Dora stared at Bernard's thick hair. "Once men hit 30, they start losing their hair. And you'll end up bald if it gets bad. Bald people are ugly! Mommy cares about looks. So if you do go bald, she won't like you anymore and will find another man to be our dad."
"This sounds like a good product, Bernard!" Douglas couldn't help but chime in.
He couldn't picture Bernard bald. But since Hera made these, they had to be precious!
Bernard's expression turned even uglier.
"These herb balls aren't for just anyone. Only people showing signs of hair loss can take them," Dylan kindly reminded from the doorway.
"That's right! Let me check if you have any signs of hair loss," Dora said as she stepped from the chair onto the desk.
