Hera raised a hand and slapped Vanta. She hit him quite hard, leaving a red handprint on his cheek.
While Vanta was still in shock, Hera kicked him off her. She then got up and began to adjust her messy clothes.
Vanta rolled onto the floor in pain, no longer as drunk as he was before. He looked up and saw Hera's icy expression. That made him realize that he had crossed her boundaries.
It seemed like the plan of using liquid courage to do whatever he wanted had failed, making Vanta feel rather upset. He wondered in which aspect he couldn't compare to Bernard.
"You very likely knew of my relationship with Bernard a long time ago. That's why you sent me to work out a deal with XS Corporation, right?" Hera glanced coldly at Vanta sitting on the ground. It looked as if she were staring at a stranger.
When she lost her memories, it was Vanta who told her who she was. That meant that either he once knew her or had done a background check on her.
Back then, Bernard's henchmen probably hadn't sealed off information related to her in time. There was no way Vanta couldn't have known about what Hera had with Bernard back then.
Vanta's eyes twitched. He had underestimated her intelligence.
But Hera should have known that Vanta was a businessman. He would never do anything that didn't benefit him.
Seeing how he wasn't explaining himself, Hera decided not to continue arguing with him. "XS Corporation is already drawing up the contract. Once it's signed, don't forget to fulfill what you've promised me."
As soon as she finished speaking, Hera turned to leave.
Vanta watched her figure disappear with an icy gaze.
