Under the Heiress' Facade novel Chapter 922

"How did the search go?" Bernard asked.

Shaking his head, Aaron answered, "We've searched the area within a 20-mile radius of the villa, but we couldn't find any traces of Hera."

Bernard knitted his eyebrows together at the unsatisfactory response.

Aaron's assistant said, "She sure has quite the stamina and strength. It'd take an ordinary person four to five hours to walk 20 miles non-stop. We've been searching for two hours, but we still can't find her."

Since Hera's disappearance, the search party had been working for the past four hours to look for her. Logically speaking, Hera shouldn't be able to go farther than 20 miles in a straight line from where they were. It was also very easy for a person to get lost in the forest.

Aaron added, "It means that she might still be within 20 miles of us and is hiding. It's either that or she has run into some trouble."

The gloom on Bernard's face became more severe. Realizing his mistake, Aaron clucked his tongue and rephrased his words.

"She must be hiding somewhere. That must be why it's so hard for us to find her."

Bernard ordered, "Send more people to search for her! I want her back no matter what it takes!"

"Roger that!" said the men around him.

Aaron recalled the terrifying state Hera was in due to her nyctophobia when he looked for her in the mountains all those years back. The scene flashed through his mind, and he quickly dispatched two more groups of men and hunting dogs to join the search party.

He hollered, "We must find her before the sun sets!"

Bernard stood at the center of the courtyard, staring at his wristwatch as time ticked by. His heart sank after each passing minute, making him feel more terrible and tormented as time passed.

The torture he felt right now felt familiar somehow, like a sense of deja vu. Had he experienced something similar before?

His mind was a jumbled mess, and every cell in his being screamed from the pain inside him. The only voice he could hear was the yearning of his heart which called out to Hera.

It seemed to be saying, "Hurry and come back! Please come back, will you?"
