Under the Veil I Rule novel Chapter 207

The gentle rapping at the door filled the room. Amara felt a twinge of unease, and when she opened the door, her suspicion was confirmed—it was Liliana.

"Ms. Sullivan, I'm here to see Finn. I'll come in."

Liliana was dressed in a sleek black satin dress, her signature red lipstick and wavy hair unchanged. A string of pearls adorned her neck, adding a touch of elegance to her already striking presence.

She clicked her way in on modest heels, lightly touching Finnian's bandaged right arm. Her voice carried a hint of tenderness. "Does it still hurt? Have you changed the dressing today?"

Finnian looked up at her, his gaze somewhat icy. Sensing his abnormality, Liliana asked, "Finn, what's wrong? Did something happen?"

"Leave us for a moment."

Finnian turned his head slightly. The comment was directed at Amara, who stood behind Liliana.

Amara lowered her eyes. Finnian's real girlfriend was visiting, and as his pretend wife, she knew her place was to step aside. Without protest, she quietly left the room.

It was evening, and not planning to go far, Amara wandered the corridor, observing the various patients and their families. It was an interesting diversion.

Soon, the door to Finnian's room swung open and Liliana emerged. Her eyes seemed a touch red—had she been crying?

As Amara watched, Liliana spotted her and quickly approached. "Ms. Sullivan, I have something to ask you. Could you come with me for a moment?"

Amara thought for a moment before nodding. Liliana led her to the stairwell and asked, "You and Keith aren't a couple?"

"No, we've always just been friends."
