"Finn, did you really get divorced? Why didn't you tell me?"
Liliana leaned forward on the table, her eyes sparkling with an excitement that made her seem more like an eager teenager than her usual graceful self.
Finnian, however, didn’t notice her unusual demeanor, his gaze slightly darkened. "How did you find out?"
Liliana brandished her phone with a little flourish. "Amara posted it on Facebook. I just saw it."
Finnian paused, opened Facebook, and scrolled down. Sure enough, a few hours ago, Amara had posted a picture of the divorce certificate. Judging by the time, she must have posted it as soon as she got home. Was she really that eager?
"Finn, is everything sorted with Amara? Are there still things that need to be divided?" she asked.
Legally speaking, Finnian was once again a free man, but having been married to Amara for three years, there were bound to be things that couldn’t be easily untangled. Liliana had just thought of this and decided to ask.
"It's done, all sorted," Finnian replied calmly.
"That's good to hear."
Liliana let out a sigh of relief. She looked up at Finnian. Since she had entered the office, he hadn't moved from his spot by the window, not even to come over and greet her.
His expression was as cool and detached as ever. Why was that? He had finally divorced the ugly woman—shouldn’t he be relieved?
Liliana narrowed her eyes briefly and walked over to him, slipping her arm through his as she inquired, "How are you feeling, Finn?"
Though she hadn’t seen Finnian express any joy about his divorce, his thoughtful gesture of ensuring she got home safely left Liliana feeling quite satisfied. She gave him a small smile and left with Will.
Finnian returned to his desk, ready to tackle his paperwork, when Dorian strolled in.
"So, you finally went through with the divorce?" Dorian plopped down on the sofa, taking a sip of coffee. He cut to the chase. "What’s next? Planning to marry Liliana?"
Finnian didn’t answer, instead leaning against his desk and asking, "What about you and Elysia? You two are getting hitched, right?"
"Yeah, the family’s pushing for it," Dorian replied, sounding almost bored. "It’s kind of dull, to be honest."
Finnian studied his friend’s expression. Was it really dull? What was really going on between him and Elysia? Just as he was about to ask, Dorian’s phone rang. He answered it, "Jessica, what's up?"
