When Love Is a Lie (Whitney and Damian) novel Chapter 90

On Saturday morning, Yvette arrived early to pick her up.

After a two-hour drive, they finally reached their destination.

Stepping out of the car, Whitney took in the serene surroundings, nestled against mountains and near water. The tranquility of the place brought a sense of peace over her.

The Manor was beautifully set within a valley, framed by intricately carved wooden gates, and neatly lined shrubs on either side.

Through the gates, a wide stone path wound its way deeper into the manor.

"Let's go. I've already had them take our things in," Yvette nodded toward the entrance, and the two walked through the gates together.

They boarded a shuttle cart that carried them through the fresh mountain breeze. Yvette turned to Whitney and asked, "Nice view, right? This place is run by the Quinn family."

Whitney knew about the Quinn family, renowned in the tourism industry with projects all over the world.

"It's wonderful here," she replied, breathing in the fresh scent of greenery and earth that filled the air.

Before long, the shuttle dropped them off in front of a row of private cottages, and the two of them stepped off.

The cottage was surrounded by lush plants, and each cottage had a private terrace that offered a panoramic view of the entire valley.

"Take a rest. I'll go say a few words to others. We've got an activity planned later," Yvette said to Whitney before turning to leave.

But just then, the door of the neighboring cottage opened, and out stepped Noel, Thomas and Caleb Quinn.

Seeing familiar faces, Whitney blinked in surprise. She hadn't expected to see Noel here.

He was dressed in light-colored casual attire. His soft hair fell naturally over his forehead, and without his glasses, his dark eyes looked even deeper.

Out of courtesy, especially with others present, she knew she should take the initiative to greet him. But she hesitated as she recalled his sarcastic remarks last night, he was probably disappointed and angry with her.

Moreover, Noel seemed equally disinterested, not even glancing in her direction.

Whitney pressed her lips together and remained silent.

"I should've checked the astrological almanac to see if today was an unlucky date for travel. Didn't want to run into certain people," Yvette said sarcastically.

Thomas chuckled, gesturing to the tall, refined man on his left, "You mean Caleb? The Quinn family heir to be here for the Manor's opening day, wouldn't look right if he didn't show up."

Feigning ignorance, Yvette shot him a glare.

She then turned to Whitney and introduced her, "This is Caleb Quinn, Professor of Biology at Seabourke University. His family owns this place."

Whitney nodded politely, "Nice to meet you, Professor Quinn. I'm Whitney Spencer."

Caleb smiled, "No need to be formal, Ms. Spencer. Since you're friends with Yvette, you can just call me Caleb, or even Cal."

Yvette, however, looked less than pleased. "Oh no, I wouldn't call Mr. York a friend. Why not address him as Mr. Howard does, Whitney? They're much closer."

Her remark shifted Caleb's attention to Noel.

"I'm open to other ideas if you're not up for friendship," Thomas said cheerfully, not at all offended.
