Chapter 23 Wasn’t it bought with your money? 

I was startled by Elissa. 

I clumsily touched my earlobe. The blood had dried up. I only felt some scabs of dried blood.. 

As 1 touched it, my earlobe started to ache again. 

My carlobe was bleeding, and I hadn’t even noticed. 

Elissa slapped my hand. “You shouldn’t pick at it like that. Doesn’t it hurt?” 

With that, she took out an iodine swab from her bag, tied up my hair neatly, and carefully disinfected it. “How did this happen?” 

“Evelyn did it.” 

1 briefly explained the situation to her. 

Elissa kept cursing angrily, “She’s such a Bith. She’s like a QR code; you wouldn’t know what she is unless you scan her. The earring isn’t hers; how dare she snatch it. She’s like a reincarnated robber.” 

“Why do you always curse in such an amusing way?” 

After her tirade, my gloomy mood from the day improved significantly. 

Elissa glared at me. “I have a friend like you. Of course, I had to learn how to curse.” 

“Okay.” 

I let her take care of my ear. She applied the iodine, which was cold but not too painful. 

After Elissa finished, she commented, “Christopher really has a strategy. He just gave you earrings yesterday, and today, he’s already cozying up to Evelyn.” 

She warned me, “You’d better turn this page quickly. Don’t let him confuse you again.”

I had been craving it since noon. Afraid Elissa might refuse, I started to act pitiful. “I’ve been craving it all day. I had some roast beef for lunch, but I threw it all up. I’ve been hungry since then.” 

“Alright, let’s go have fondue.” Elissa quickly agreed. Then, she gestured at my belly with her fist. “Once this little guy is born, I’ll give him a piece of my mind.” 

“What if it’s a girl?” 

“Then I’ll just have to spoil her!” 

We chatted non–stop on the way to the car dealership. 

Most of the topics revolved around the child in my belly. 

I anticipated it, but Elissa seemed even more excited than me. 

However, shortly after arriving at the car dealership, my hard–earned good mood vanished. 

As we went to pay with the invoice, Elissa’s eyes were sharp. She glanced at two figures on the other side. “Isn’t that Mr. Valence and that disgusting woman?” 

I was momentarily stunned. Following Elissa’s gaze, I realized she was referring to Christopher and Evelyn. 

It was them. 

Christopher looked aloof, with his hands in his pockets. He exuded a powerful aura that seemed innate.

I closed the car door. I wanted to wait for Elissa to come out and leave directly. 

To my surprise, before Elissa came out, the sales consultant knocked on my car window. 

I lowered the window slightly and asked impatiently, “What’s up?” 

“Hello, here’s the thing. A customer wants to see your car. Is that okay?”
