Andie's eyes widened in disbelief, as if she'd just heard an absurd joke.
When she first laid eyes on Brian, she thought he was handsome and exuded a certain rugged charm.
But now, it turned out he was completely clueless.
Without bothering to understand the situation, he immediately ordered Claire to apologize. Who did he think he was?
It was the first time Andie had encountered such a tactless man.
Before Claire could speak, Andie put one hand on her hip and snapped, “Are you blind or something? Vanessa just yanked on Claire’s hair so hard she nearly pulled her scalp off! Didn't you see that? You're defending her without knowing the facts, and demanding Claire apologize? You’re absolutely ridiculous!”
Brian looked at Andie with disdain, finding his flamboyant manner offensive. "This is between Claire and me, none of your business."
With that, he turned his gaze back to Claire.
His eyes were full of aggression, locking onto Claire as if she were his possession.
His thin lips parted, delivering words meant to wound, "Claire, this isn't the first time you've bullied Vanessa. Don’t pretend to be innocent in front of me. I know exactly what kind of person you are."
"If you apologize to Vanessa, I can pretend none of this happened today."
"If you refuse, I’ll make sure you pay for it."
Claire looked at him with indifference.
She wasn't at all troubled by his misunderstanding and threats.
After years of being misjudged and humiliated by the Linwood family and Brian, she had become resilient, immune to their venom.
In fact, she no longer cared about Brian's attitude towards her.
Five years had passed since the days when he trailed behind her, competing alongside her, often declaring he would surpass her.
Now, he had become someone she found utterly repellent.
But it didn’t matter; she had long since stopped caring.
What Claire had grown used to, however, was something that Andie simply couldn't tolerate.
“What are you babbling about? If you don’t know how to speak properly, just shut your mouth.”
“I think those holes under your eyebrows are just for decoration. Which eye of yours saw Claire bullying her? And which one caught her pretending?”
Andie was so enraged he rolled up his sleeves, ready to pounce on Brian, but Claire stopped him.
Claire, shocked and furious, was about to help Andie when she saw Vanessa pick up the embroidery from the floor.
Claire's eyes narrowed in alarm, dismissing everything else as she rushed over to snatch it back, but Vanessa dodged her grasp.
Claire's fury erupted, and she delivered a stinging slap across Vanessa's face.
The slap came so swiftly that Vanessa was left stunned.
A red handprint instantly appeared on Vanessa's cheek, a thin trickle of blood seeping from the corner of her mouth.
Vanessa stared at Claire in disbelief. She had assumed that with Brian present, Claire wouldn't dare lay a finger on her.
Internally, Vanessa screamed with rage, wanting nothing more than to tear Claire apart.
But she couldn’t reveal her true nature in front of Brian.
Tears welled up in her eyes, and she began to cry, her face like a delicate flower in the rain, "Sister, I was just trying to help you pick up your things. Why did you hit me?"
Brian's expression darkened ominously, and he glared at Claire, his voice filled with anger, "Claire, you've gone too far!"
Yet Claire seemed not to hear him at all, her eyes fixed intently on the embroidery in Vanessa's hand.
