By the time Claire realized what was happening, she was already seething with anger and embarrassment.
She struggled fiercely, pushing against Brian with all her might. But Brian held her tightly, as if trying to meld her body into his.
Claire felt suffocated, her anger and humiliation reaching a boiling point.
In a sudden move, she bit down hard on Brian's lip.
Brian winced in pain and released her. Blood trickled from his lip as he looked at Claire, only to be met with a loud slap.
Breathing heavily, Claire wiped her lips with disgust and anger in her eyes.
“Brian, you are utterly shameless! You make me sick.”
Her words hit Brian like a dagger to his heart.
All he had done was kiss her, and she found him repulsive? He had loved her for eight long years, even after she had spent time in prison. He waited patiently for her release, dreaming of marrying her, never touching another woman. He’d even saved his first kiss for her, yet she found him disgusting?
The sense of rejection was a deep blow to Brian's pride.
Without another word, Claire turned coldly and walked out of the room.
No sooner had she stepped outside than she saw Andie struggling with Vanessa over the embroidery piece “Radiant Beauty.”
With a ripping sound, the fabric tore.
Andie stood frozen in shock.
Vanessa’s face briefly flashed with malicious glee, but she quickly feigned innocence, her eyes welling up with tears as she looked at Claire.
“Sister, I didn’t mean to. He tried to take it, and I only wanted to keep it safe for you. I never thought it would tear, I’m so sorry…”
