Vanessa looked at Claire with teary eyes, her voice trembling as she said, "Sister, I'm sorry. I really didn't mean to. I'm willing to compensate you—just name your price."
Brian quickly chimed in, "See, Claire? I told you Vanessa is considerate. She's offering to compensate you, so there's no need to make a fuss."
He paused briefly, then added, "It's just an embroidery, after all. It's not worth much."
Vanessa's face lit up with a seemingly innocent yet subtly smug smile. "Sister, I get a hundred thousand dollars a month in allowance. I'll give it all to you as compensation, okay? If that's not enough, I can ask my parents and brother for more—they dote on me and will surely give me the money."
Brian echoed, "A hundred thousand is more than enough, Claire. You and Vanessa are family. Why let such a trivial matter become a spectacle?"
With their words, they appeared to be asking for Claire’s forgiveness while subtly insinuating that she was being petty.
Standing nearby, Andie was appalled by their audacity. Unable to hold back, he spat out, "Who cares about your dirty money? A hundred thousand? Do you think you're dealing with beggars?"
"This piece, 'Radiant Beauty,' was bought by Sean at an auction for two million as a birthday gift for the matriarch."
Vanessa’s smug smile instantly froze.
An embroidery worth two million?
And why did something belonging to Sean end up in Claire's hands?
The thought that Claire might have caught Sean's eye long ago drove Vanessa mad with jealousy.
