Rebecca White was anything but fragile.
“She...”
Francis furrowed his brows, hesitated, and struggled to speak, “She found out. She’s James’s mother.”
“What?!”
Sherilyn was stunned, shocked, as if a bolt of lightning had struck on a clear day!
What did that mean?
Rebecca White was... James’s mother?
Wasn’t James supposed to be the elder brother’s child? Then… did that mean James was Rebecca White and the elder brother’s…?
Did that imply that Rebecca White and the elder brother… they...
Her mind was swirling with too much information! Too many elements!
Nearby, Gilbert looked at Francis, who was already in the know, “Bro, you came clean?”
“No,” Francis shook his head, “it was Caroline.”
I see.
Gilbert fell silent for a moment, then tried to offer some comfort, “Sooner or later, you had to tell her, bro. You’ve got to face it.”
“Yeah.” Francis nodded, understanding that very well.
“Bro, you…”
Sherilyn looked from Francis to Gilbert, and everything clicked.
“You knew all along?”
“Yes.” Gilbert nodded, taking her hand, “This was the elder brother’s issue. I couldn’t say anything before he told Rebecca White.”
Sherilyn wasn’t blaming him, just surprised.
Also, she couldn’t wrap her head around how Rebecca White and the elder brother ended up with James?
“How is Rebecca doing?” Sherilyn looked towards the closed door.
Right now, she wanted to check on Rebecca White first.
Francis replied, “The doctor has already seen her. She was too shocked... but she’s awake now.”
But he dared not enter, fearing he might upset her further.
Sherilyn understood, “Then I’ll go see her.”
“Sherilyn.” Francis looked at her with gratitude and hope, “Please.”
“Alright.”
Pushing open the door, Sherilyn walked in.
