Chapter 167
“Of course not,” Hannah said with a smile, not a single crack in he expression. “Def look like someone who goes back on her word? I’m not even pregnant yet. Once I am, I’ll stop working.”
Dominic narrowed his eyes. “Are you questioning my efficiency?”
Hannah was stunned for a moment, thrown off by how fast he’d jumped to that conclusion.
He took her pause as silent agreement. With a smirk, he reached over and pinched her cheek. “Don’t worry. I’ll show you exactly what efficiency means.”
The moment the light turned green, he shifted his gaze back to the road and hit the gas. The Bentley shot forward like a bullet. As soon as they reached his apartment, even before stepping through the door, Dominic grabbed her wrist and pulled her close. He cupped her chin and lowered his head to kiss her lips.
Hannah’s eyes widened for a second in surprise. But soon enough, she responded to him.
The heat between them rose fast. Hannah, caught in his demanding rhythm, struggled to catch her breath.
Realizing they were still outside the door, she braced her hands against his chest and panted, “Let’s…. at least get inside first.”
“Ms. Cole, this is a one–unit–per–floor setup. What are you so shy about?” Dominic clearly wasn’t concerned. He leaned in to kiss her again.
“Still! I don’t care!” She turned her face away. Her cheeks were now flushed. “It’s uncomfortable standing like this!”
Dominic let out a low chuckle. “Such a delicate thing.”
After saying that, he kept a hand under her chin and used the other to unlock the door.
The fingerprint lock beeped softly. The next second, Dominic pushed her inside and slammed the door shut.
From the corner of her eye, Hannah scanned his apartment. The black, white, and gray tones exuded a simple yet luxurious elegance.
It was the first time Dominic had ever brought her to his home.
But on the countertop, she spotted a lipstick. It seemed like he’d brought other women here before.
A flicker of something unreadable flashed through her
eyes.
“What are you spacing out for?” Dominic pulled off his glasses with one hand while starting to unbutton her top with the other. His movements snapped her attention back to him.
Hannah looked up at his handsome face. On the surface, he seemed calm and gentle, but he was always hard to read.
He’d never said what exactly she was to him.
After all, their relationship had started as a deal.
Maybe to Dominic, that was all it ever was. But for her, somewhere along the way, she’d caught feelings. No woman could resist a young, wealthy, and good–looking man who treated her uniquely, Hannah was no exception.
However, just as she’d begun to entertain some unrealistic fantasies about him, he’d left without a word. He’d just abandoned
her like that.
For an entire year, she never saw him again.
Then one day, she saw Dominic again on a massive screen. His arms were casually wrapped around another woman’s waist. It wasn’t a steamy photo, but it was intimate enough.
