Chapter 175
Anathea was visibly much better after throwing up the mouthful obile that had worked its way up her throat. “Are you really okay, Thea?” Hannah asked worriedly, handing Athea a glass of water to rinse her mouth. Anathea had been gradually recovering well until now, but she’d blanched after seeing Gregory’s calculated maneuver on live television earlier.
It was like the condition she’d suffered back in Castena had come back to haunt her.
Hannah’s heart nearly broke at Anathea’s sorry state. She inwardly cursed Gregory a hundred times over, but right now, she was more concerned about Anathea’s physical well–being.
“Would you like to get a checkup at the hospital?”
Anathea shook her head.
Now that Gregory had revealed her identity on live television–a manipulative tactic on his part–the whole Internet knew she was his wife.
If she were to leave now, she might not make it two steps out of her hiding place before someone recognized her. The last thing she wanted was to cause unnecessary trouble.
She rinsed her mouth and let out a breath, regaining her composure. She forced a reassuring smile at Hannah. “Don’t worry, I’m fine.”
When Hannah didn’t respond, Anathea continued, “Now that my mom’s condition is slowly becoming stable, I think it’s time we transfer her from the hospital to a regular sanatorium. Switching to a bigger environment with more open spaces will help with her recovery.”
Anathea also felt that the hospital was no longer a safe place for them to hide and wanted to move elsewhere.
“All right, I’ll help you,” Hannah said, nodding.
“I want to help, too!” Chloe poked her head around the doorframe her sparkling eyes curving into crescent moons.
Hannah pinched Chloe’s cheek. “You little troublemaker!”
Anathea went to the hospital early the next morning to sort out the discharge paperwork. When she was done, she helped Fiona to the car to go to the sanatorium she’d booked in advance.
While Anathea went to pay Fiona’s medical bills, Hannah and the others waited for her in the car.
But Anathea had just paid the bills and left to meet Hannah and the others when she saw the Rolls–Royce parked by the entrance.
It was Gregory’s car.
Anathea’s eyes widened, and at that moment, her phone rang with a call from Hannah.
“Thea, don’t come out! Gregory’s outside the hospital!” Hannah cried on the other end of the phone. As she warned Anathea, she deftly put face masks on Fiona and Chloe. She then started the car and pulled away from the hospital entrance.
“I know. I saw.” When Anathea saw Gregory approaching the hospital, she immediately turned and jogged toward the fire
escape.
She didn’t think he would be in Syntherra so soon when he’d been in Castenea just the right before. Her fingers clenched, and her heart thundered in her chest. She couldn’t run into Gregory.
Others might think he’d made the speech at the Presgraves‘ party because he regretted letting his wife down and wanted to apologize after she ran away.

The public might have viewed his gesture as a heartfelt declaration in hopes of winning his wife back. What a noble way to put it! But in truth, Gregory’s words were punctuated with steely resolve te hadn’t just publicly revealed Anathea’s identity as his wife. He’d used the press to send her a message to tell her she wasn’t getting away from him that easily.
