Chapter 234
The guests continued to gossip, “No wonder Mr. Sinclair treats Me Whitman so well. They grew up together, and Madam Eleanor likes her too. But then why did he marry someone else?”
“I don’t know,” another guest replied, “but I’m sure Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair have been just putting on a show for a while now. It’s only a matter of time before they divorce. Just look at today. Mr. Sinclair hasn’t left Ms. Whitman’s side, and Mrs. Sinclair is nowhere in sight.”
Theo overheard the whispers. Frowning, he looked toward Gregory, who was seated not far away with Natalie. With a glass of wine in hand, he walked over.
“It’s a Sinclair family party, and you didn’t bring your wife?” he asked casually. “Don’t tell me you think she isn’t worthy of attending?”
Gregory didn’t reply. He swirled his wine glass and took a sip.
“Don’t say that, Theo. I already asked Greg to invite Ms. Jacobson, Natalie quickly cut in to smooth things over.
But when she heard Theo calling Anathea Gregory’s wife, a flicker of irritation crossed her heart.
She feigned a touch of disappointment and added, “But she never replied. I guess she doesn’t think much of me and didn’t want to lower herself to come to my party.”
“She’ll come,” Gregory said flatly. “I told her to bring your birthday gift too.”
“Really?” Natalie’s eyes lit up. “But isn’t that a bit too much? You already gave me a very extravagant gift.”
“That one’s from me. She’s got her own gift for you.” Gregory placed his now–empty wine glass back on the tray, sounding completely unconcerned.
Natalie’s smile deepened. As expected, Gregory’s obsession with Anathea was nothing more than a fleeting possessiveness. Deep down, the one he truly cared about was still Natalie.
Otherwise, why would he spend 50 million dollars on a tiara for her and even have Anathea personally deliver a gift for her birthday?
Theo didn’t look pleased. Once Natalie walked off to toast some ladies nearby, he leaned toward Gregory and lowered his voice.
“Greg, you know about the bad blood between Natalie and Anathea Why would you ask Anathea to show up and give her a gift?”
He’d heard what had happened at the hospital. That had been a matter of life and death. Honestly, given the circumstances, if Anathea had stormed up and started a fight with Natalie, no one would’ve blamed her.
And yet Gregory was making her come over to wish Natalie a happy birthday? That was humiliating.
But unlike Theo’s indignation, Gregory remained calm. “Why? Are you concerned about my wife now?”
Theo was caught off guard. “Of course not.”
“Then don’t ask.” Gregory poured himself another glass of wine, took a sip, and remained unbothered.
Theo clenched his jaw at Gregory’s nonchalance and downed his full glass in one go before slamming it down on the table. “What’s with the temper?” Adrian’s teasing voice rang out. “Don’t tell me someone’s stealing your girl?”
“No! I just…” Theo trailed off.
Even he didn’t fully understand why he was this angry.
Was he angry at Gregory for humiliating Anathea? Or was it because, despite having already left, she’d come back and still held on to the title of Mrs. Sinclair?
Chapter 234
He was just annoyed about being conned out of ten million dollars. That had to be it.
